Volunteers make Arizona shine
Volunteers make Arizona shine
Check out ADOT’s new volunteer groups in the graphic above. We’re celebrating 17 new and renewed groups committed to helping keep Arizona’s highways clean.
These volunteers went above and beyond in community achievement by cleaning adopted miles within the first 90 days after receiving a permit:
- Family and friends of Jimmy Tra Waters cleaned their new mile and registered to participate on National CleanUp Day, Saturday, Sept. 19.
- Silva Ranch volunteers filled 519 trash bags over the past two years and recently renewed a permit situated along I-40 in Seligman.
- The City of Holbrook and Holbrook High School Student Council beautified a section along Interstate 40 during a one-day Beautify Holbrook cleanup.
- Fourteen Yihasbah and Pauling Shirley group volunteers cleaned State Route 264 near Ganado, filling 17 bags during the first week of a new two-year permit.
- Friends of Jerry Stone held a memorial cleanup along State Route 188 near Tonto Basin.
Special thanks to new memorial groups, businesses and organizations stepping forward to support the community through trash cleanups. Adopting is a rewarding way to support civic involvement and we're grateful to have the beauty of Arizona’s roadsides uncovered with their help.
Highway adoptions are available on many state routes, primarily outside of urban areas.
If you’d like to pitch in, it’s not too late to adopt a mile and conduct your first cleanup on National CleanUp Day, Saturday, Sept. 19. Please visit azdot.gov/adoptahighway.
