Wear your seatbelt and designate a driver over Memorial Day weekend

The unofficial start to summer is here, and we want to take a moment to remind drivers who may be heading out on the roads over Memorial Day weekend to exercise caution.
First, we do hope you’ll take time during the extended weekend to remember the reason for the holiday and those who have sacrificed their lives for our country and freedom.
If you’re out driving on Arizona highways, you may see some of our overhead message signs with a traffic safety message encouraging motorists to designate a driver and to wear seatbelts (unlike some missions, this one is very much possible).
The risk of wildfires is something to keep in mind, and we’ve already seen wildfires cause highway closures for public safety this year. Some of our overhead signs will also display a message reminding drivers to not drag chains — it’s a simple thing we can do to help prevent our vehicles from igniting a wildfire.
We hope that these messages start conversations around safe driving habits and ultimately influence driver behavior so we all make better decisions behind the wheel. Whether you’re attending a cookout, spending time with family, going to watch the new “Mission Impossible — The Final Reckoning” movie, or attending a parade this weekend, we hope you get there and home safely.
