What is Arizona ID in Google Wallet?

Driver's license and state-issued identity cards (IDs) in Google Wallet will provide an easy and secure way for Arizonans to show their state ID.

 

What do I need to load Arizona ID in Google Wallet?

Requirements: 

  • Have an eligible Arizona driver’s license or state-issued identification card with an issue date after September 2003. 
  • A phone with Android 8 or higher.

Is my Arizona ID in Google Wallet valid in other states?

Currently use of your Arizona ID in Google Wallet is only available at select TSA checkpoints and lanes at participating airports.

Do I still need to carry my physical ID with me after I add it to Google Wallet?

Yes. Arizonans should continue to carry their physical driver's license or state ID card. Arizona ID in Google Wallet can only be used to verify identity at select TSA airport security checkpoints at this time.

Is there a charge to use Arizona ID in Google Wallet?

There is no cost associated with adding or using your Arizona ID in Google Wallet.

Is Arizona ID in Google Wallet the same as mID?

No. Currently, the ID in Google Wallet can be presented to confirm identity at select TSA airport security checkpoints.

The Arizona Mobile ID can be used to remotely authenticate identity and complete enhanced-security services on AZMVDNow.gov, such as transferring a vehicle title. More information on the Arizona Mobile ID can be found here.

Do I need to have a Travel ID (Real ID) to use Google Wallet?

No, you are not required to have an Arizona Travel ID, or Real ID, to add your ID to Google Wallet.

Adding your Arizona ID to Google Wallet

You must have Google Wallet installed to continue.

  1. Start by opening Google Wallet on your Android device or downloading it on Google Play
  2. On your Android device, open the Google Wallet app.
  3. Tap the Add to Wallet button.
  4. Tap ID Card and choose your state.
  5. Follow the onscreen instructions to scan the front and back of your license or ID.

Please visit the Google Wallet Help Center to learn more. After your request has been approved, you will see your Arizona ID in the Google Wallet app.

My ID in Google Wallet verification was denied. What should I do?

Start the process again. If the second attempt fails, contact MVD for assistance.

I don’t have my physical card. What should I do?

The verification process involves capturing a photo of the front and back of your physical card. If you don't have one, you can request a duplicate card by logging into your account on AZMVDNow.gov or visiting an MVD office.

Managing my Arizona ID in Google Wallet

How do I remove my Arizona ID from Google Wallet?

Remove your US Driver's License or State ID using the Google Wallet app or through myaccount.google.com.

For ID removal with the Google Wallet app:

  1. Launch the Google Wallet app Google Wallet app.
  2. Scroll to locate your 'ID or license.'
  3. Tap your Arizona ID or license.
  4. Tap the three dots in the top right corner. More
  5. Tap and then Remove and then Remove.

For online removal of your ID remotely:

  1. Go to myaccount.google.com.
  2. Select Personal Info.
  3. Scroll to "Digital ID.”
  4. Click "Manage Digital ID".
  5. Next to the ID or license you wish to remove, click the trash bin icon 'Delete Delete.
  6. Confirm that you want to delete your ID from your device and Google Account.

I removed my Arizona ID from Google Wallet. How do I get it back?

open the Google Wallet app and begin a new ID request.

What should I do if I misplace or lose the device with my Arizona ID added to Google Wallet?

  • If you lose your phone, you must follow the instructions above to remove your ID.

My Arizona ID has been updated (changed address, name, etc.) Will it automatically update my identification in Google Wallet?

Yes, the information will be automatically updated of the changes being made with MVD.

Using your Arizona ID in Google Wallet

Where can I use my Arizona ID in Google Wallet?

You can use your Arizona ID in Google Wallet at select TSA PreCheck® checkpoints and lanes at participating airports.

What airports accept my ID in Google Wallet?

This is determined by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA). Please visit tsa.gov for the most up to date support for IDs in Google Wallet.

How do I present my ID in Google Wallet?

Currently, you can use your US Driver's License or State ID with TSA at supported airports. You must still carry your physical ID as needed. More options to use your US Driver's License or State ID are coming soon.

Present with NFC

  1. Unlock your phone.
  2. For a few seconds, hold the back of your phone close to the NFC terminal.
  3. Review the info that will be shared.
    • Before you can proceed, the app will ask you to authenticate.
  4. To confirm that the info was shared, wait for the blue check mark.
  5. Tip: If you aren’t able to share your ID:

  6. Try to hold your phone in a different way. Your NFC antenna could be near the top or bottom of your device.
  7. Hold your phone closer to the reader.
  8. For a few extra seconds, hold your phone to the reader.
  9. If you still have issues, use your physical ID.

Present with QR code

  1. Open the Google Wallet app .
  2. Scroll to find your “ID or license.”
  3. Tap your ID or license.
  4. Allow the QR code on your ID to be scanned.
  5. Review the info that will be shared.
    • Before you can proceed, the app will ask you to authenticate.
  6. To confirm that the info was shared, wait for the blue check mark.
  7. Tip: If you have issues scanning the back of your license, try to:

  8. Keep the card steady or place it on a flat surface.
  9. Ensure you’re scanning in a well-lit location.
  10. Make sure that the barcode is clearly visible. Zoom in on the barcode if needed.
