Plan for delays on I-10 in western Arizona for paving project
Around-the-clock lane restrictions planned Mondays through Fridays
PHOENIX – The Arizona Department of Transportation advises drivers to plan for delays on Interstate 10 in western Arizona for a pavement project that will narrow the highway to one lane in each direction around-the-clock Mondays through Fridays into summer 2027.
The project will involve removing and replacing the top layer of asphalt on a 12-mile stretch of I-10 from Ehrenberg at the California-Arizona state line to milepost 12. Crews will also replace guardrail throughout the project area.
The work will occur Mondays through Fridays, with guardrail replacement in the daytime and paving at night. For the safety of the public and crews, around-the-clock lane restrictions will be in place on weekdays. No lane restrictions will be scheduled on weekends or holidays to minimize traffic impacts.
The first restrictions begin Monday, Oct. 26. Both directions of I-10 will be narrowed to a single lane from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Oct. 26, through Thursday, Oct. 29. The same restrictions will be in place from 6 a.m. to noon Friday, Oct. 30, and from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday, Nov. 2.
A 14-foot vehicle width restriction will be in place.
Other project activities include replacing signage and extending drainage culverts. The project is expected to be completed in late summer 2027.
