Labor Day weekend usually marks the “unofficial end to summer” with family gatherings and road trips — and if you’re traveling this holiday, we want to remind you to slow down and drive alert.

The Arizona Department of Transportation advises drivers to plan for eastbound lane restrictions on State Route 72 from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. beginning Thursday, Aug. 28, for concrete placement.

The following lane restrictions will occur  Thursday, Aug. 28, Wednesday, Sept. 3 and Friday, Sept. 5.

  • Eastbound SR 72 will be reduced to one lane between milepost 24 and milepost 30 with alternating traffic control via flagging operation.
  • A 12-foot vehicle width restriction will be in place. 
  • The speed limit will be reduced to 45 mph.

Delays are likely, so allow extra travel time. Proceed through the work zone with caution, slow down and watch for construction personnel and equipment.

The Arizona Department of Transportation has initiated a pavement rehabilitation project on Interstate 17 between Sunset Point and the State Route 69 interchange (mileposts 252-262).

The southbound Loop 101 off-ramp at Raintree Drive will close at approximately 11:45 p.m. Tuesday (Sept. 2) to allow crews to reconstruct it to fit into the freeway’s wider configuration. Learn more

South Street restrictions in place for approximately 21 days

The Arizona Department of Transportation advises drivers to plan for the following lane restrictions on US 60, between Santee Street (milepost 250) and US 70 (milepost 252), as part of the pavement rehabilitation project in Globe:

  • East- and westbound curb lane restrictions on US 60 between US 70 (milepost 252) and South Street (milepost 251.9) daily from 6 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 22, through Thursday, Sept. 25.
    • Motorists should plan for rolling lane restrictions as crews work in multiple sections each day and move through the project area.
    • The speed limit will be reduced to 25 mph in the work zone.

Motorists and businesses should also plan for temporary restrictions to local roads for ramp and gutter work. Drivers can expect the following:

  • Traffic exiting South Street onto US 60 will be closed for approximately 21 days.
    • Drivers may use posted detours to Seventh Street to access US 60.
    • Traffic entering South Street from US 60 will remain open.

Drivers should allow extra travel time, use caution, be prepared to slow down and merge safely when approaching and traveling through all work zones.
