I-40 Cemetery Wash & Jackrabbit Road Bridge Rehabilitation
I-40 Cemetery Wash & Jackrabbit Road Bridge Rehabilitation
Contents
Project Cost: $3.9 million
Overview
The Arizona Department of Transportation has initiated a rehabilitation project on two bridges along Interstate 40: the Cemetery Wash Bridge (eastbound only) in Winslow (milepost 253) and the Jackrabbit Road Bridge near Joseph City (milepost 270).
Construction is scheduled to begin in spring 2026 and be completed by summer 2027 with a winter hiatus.
Project Elements
The project will include:
- Replacing each existing bridge deck surface with new pavement. The bridge deck is the top-riding surface of the bridge that motorists drive on.
- Installing new guardrail, pavement markings and other related work.
What to Expect During Construction
Traffic on I-40 will be reduced to one lane across the bridges during construction. Drivers should slow down and merge safely into the open lane.
Drivers need to be prepared to slow down and merge over safely when approaching the work zone, drive slowly through the work zone and use caution around construction personnel and equipment while the restrictions are in place.
