Learn more

Lane restrictions will be in place 24/7 during construction

The Arizona Department of Transportation advises drivers to prepare for lane restrictions on Interstate 40 in Winslow and west of Joseph City beginning in early July, as a new bridge rehabilitation project begins.

Drivers should expect delays while the following around-the-clock restrictions are in place:

  • Eastbound I-40 will be narrowed to one lane over Cemetery Wash in Winslow, which is right before the North Park Drive interchange (Exit 253).

  • I-40 will be narrowed to one lane in each direction at the Jackrabbit Road interchange (Exit 270).

  • Drivers will need to slow down and merge over into the open lane when approaching the work zone and use caution around construction personnel and equipment while the restrictions are in place.

  • Traffic delays due to slow moving traffic should be expected while traveling through the work zone.

The project will replace the surface of the current bridges with new pavement as well as replace guardrail as needed.

The project is scheduled to be completed by the end of the year.
