SR 69 Truwood Drive to Sundog Ranch Road Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) Improvement Study

The SR 69 Truwood Drive to Sundog Ranch Road Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) Improvement Study was initiated by the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) Multimodal Planning Department (MPD) to respond to increasing operational, safety, and freight-related pressures on this vital regional corridor.

SR 69 is a principal arterial and designated Critical Rural Freight Corridor that links Prescott Valley and Prescott to Interstate 17 and regional destinations. The study area extends five miles between Milepost 285 and Milepost 290, encompassing nine signalized intersections and a rapidly developing mix of commercial, industrial, and residential land uses.

As growth in the Prescott Valley region continues to accelerate, the corridor faces mounting challenges that include recurring congestion, extended delays, unreliable travel times, and an elevated crash profile concentrated around several major intersections. These pressures underscore the urgent need for coordinated ITS, operational, and access management improvements capable of providing measurable and cost-effective performance gains.
