SR 264 Moenkopi Wash Bridge Deck Rehabilitation

Contents

This project is complete

Overview

Project Cost: $3 million

The Arizona Department of Transportation has completed a bridge deck rehabilitation project on the Moenkopi Wash Bridge. The bridge is located on State Route 264 between the communities of Tuba City and Second Mesa (milepost 324), approximately two miles east of the US 160 junction.

The project was completed late summer 2022.

Project Elements

The purpose of this project is to replace the existing bridge deck and to construct new approach/departure slabs. Pavement work is limited only to provide a smooth transition between the roadway and the approach/departure slabs.

Additional work includes, but not limited to:

  • Repairing concrete cracks at abutments.
  • Erosion prevention.
  • Painting and repair of steel members.
  • Pouring new concrete approach/departure slabs.
  • Replacing guardrails.

What to Expect During Construction

Construction for a bridge rehabilitation will employ a two-phased lane closure traffic control plan. SR 264 will be reduced to one lane of alternating east- and westbound travel through the construction zone. Temporary traffic signals (one for each direction) and concrete barriers will be used to control traffic through the work zone.
