The Arizona Department of Transportation advises drivers to prepare for daytime lane restrictions on State Route 77 over the Little Colorado River and near the BNSF railroad crossing on Monday, Aug. 24, and Monday, Aug. 31, as work nears completion on a bridge rehabilitation project.

Drivers should expect the following restrictions from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day:

SR 77 will be narrowed to one lane in each direction over the Little Colorado River Bridge.
Drivers need to be prepared to slow down, expect frequent stops and plan for delays while moving through the work zone and use caution around construction personnel and equipment while the restrictions are in place.
Restrictions will be lifted each day after work hours.

Crews will be permanently striping the road within the project area on Monday, Aug. 24. On Monday, Aug. 31, the northbound lanes on the bridge will be restricted while crews replace an overhead sign.

Overview

The Arizona Department of Transportation is currently working on a project to rehabilitate the Little Colorado Bridge and roadway pavement along State Route 77 in Holbrook. The bridge is located south of Holbrook’s downtown area on the way to Snowflake.

The project is expected to be completed by late summer.

Project Elements

The purpose of this project is to rehabilitate the bridge and surrounding pavement and sidewalks to extend the life of the bridge.

The work will include:

Milling and repairing the existing bridge deck and deck joints.
Removing and replacing pavement along SR 77 from the north end of the bridge to Joy Nevin Avenue.
Repair existing concrete barriers and sidewalks.
Replace pavement markings and other related work.

What to Expect During Construction

SR 77 will be reduced to one lane in each direction during construction. Drivers should slow down and safely merge into the open lane when approaching the work zone. Drivers should expect long delays when traveling across the bridge.
