Traffic Alerts: SR 87 Teesto Wash Bridge Replacement
State Route 87 Teesto Wash Bridge Replacement project north of Winslow to begin March 6
Plan for lane closures and restrictions
The Arizona Department of Transportation will begin construction to replace the Teesto Wash Bridge on State Route 87 on Monday, March 6. The bridge is located between the communities of Winslow and Second Mesa at milepost 385.
During construction, the bridge will be restricted to one lane only with alternating north- and southbound travel through the work zone. Temporary traffic signals (one for each direction) and concrete barriers will be used to safely move drivers through the work zone while construction is underway.
The new bridge will be constructed next to the existing bridge. Traffic will be shifted onto the new bridge once it is completed this fall.
The purpose of the project is to ensure the continued connection between Winslow and the Navajo and Hopi tribal communities. Additional work includes:
- Realigning the existing SR 87 roadway to the new Teesto Wash Bridge.
- Installing new guardrail.
- Pouring new concrete approach/departure slabs.
- Installing new pavement markings.
