US 160 Dennehotso - MP 440 Pavement Rehabilitation

Project Cost: $19.7 million

The Arizona Department of Transportation, in partnership with the Navajo Nation, has completed a pavement rehabilitation project along US 160 in far northeast Arizona. The 24-mile-long project was roughly between the communities of Dennehotso and Mexican Water.

Project Elements

• Removed and replaced the top-pavement surface along US 160 in both directions between mileposts 416 and 440.
• Removed existing bridge rail on the Walker Creek Bridge near the Mexican Water Trading Post (milepost 435) and replaced it with concrete barrier.
• Replaced guardrail, installed centerline rumble strips, built up shoulders, replaced cattle guards and paved turnouts within ADOT right-of-way in the project area.
• Completed paving with a chip seal treatment and new permanent pavement markings.
• Performed erosion control work near milepost 440.
