Project Elements
- Remove and replace the top-pavement surface along US 160 in both directions between mileposts 416 and 440.
- Remove existing bridge rail on the Walker Creek Bridge near the Mexican Water Trading Post (milepost 435) and replace it with concrete barrier.
- Replace guardrail, install centerline rumble strips, build up shoulders, replace cattle guards and pave turnouts within ADOT right-of-way in the project area.
- Complete paving with a chip seal treatment and new permanent pavement markings.
What to Expect During Construction
US 160 will be reduced to one lane only in segments with alternating east- and westbound travel during construction. Vehicles will be directed through the work zone by flaggers and a pilot car. Work will take place Mondays through Thursdays during daylight hours, and Fridays from 6 a.m. to noon. No work is planned on weekends or holidays. A 12-foot vehicle-width restriction will be in place during paving operations.
Drivers should plan for extra travel time and watch for construction workers and equipment while traveling through the area.
