Overview

The Arizona Department of Transportation has initiated a project to install High Intensity Activated Crosswalk (HAWK) pedestrian signals across US 180B (known locally as Main Street) at 6th Avenue in the town of Eagar.

The project is expected to begin in December 2025 and be completed by spring 2026. 

Project Elements

The purpose of the project is to improve pedestrian safety by providing a designated, protected crossing location across US 180B (Main Street). The work will include:

  • Installing HAWK signals and signal poles
  • Painting a designated crosswalk on US 180B
  • Constructing ADA ramps

What To Expect During Construction

  • Construction work is tentatively scheduled from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Fridays.
  • Single-lane restrictions on US 180B during construction.
  • The installation of signal poles will require shoulder and sidewalk closures, as well as rolling closures of US 180B for installation of the mast arm and signals.

Drivers should plan for extra travel time and watch for construction workers and equipment while traveling through the area.
