I-40 Paving Projects: AZ-CA Stateline to SR 95
Overview
The Arizona Department of Transportation has completed two construction projects to replace the top-riding surface along
8 miles of Interstate 40 between the Arizona-California state line and the junction with State Route 95 (mileposts 0 to 8).

Project Elements
The purpose of these projects is to extend the life of the roadway and improve the riding surface for drivers. The work includes:

Remove and replace the existing top layer of pavement on I-40 between the Arizona-California state line and the junction with SR 95 (mileposts 0 - 8).

In addition to the mainline, roadway shoulders, ramps and a cross road will receive the new pavement.

Remove and replace a bridge deck, bridge approach slabs and bridge barrier.

Construction was completed in September 2025.
