New project will repave I-40 through Kingman

The Arizona Department of Transportation advises motorists traveling on Interstate 40 through Kingman to expect lane restrictions beginning Monday, June 7, for a new pavement rehabilitation and roadway improvement project on an 11-mile segment of the highway. The restrictions are scheduled to remain in place through the end of the year.

The following restrictions will be in place from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. Mondays through Fridays:

  • Eastbound I-40 will be narrowed to one lane between Holy Moses Wash and Rattlesnake Wash (mileposts 47-58).
  • A 14-foot vehicle width restriction will be in place.
  • The speed limit will be reduced in the work zone.

The first construction activities over the next several months include removing and replacing guardrail in the project area. The crew will work on the eastbound lanes first in segments of approximately 400 feet each night. After the eastbound lanes are completed work will begin on the westbound lanes. Work activities may be performed on the roadway shoulders during the day.

ADOT reminds drivers to proceed through the work zone with caution and watch for construction personnel and equipment while construction is underway.
