Overview
Currently not paving due to night weather and temperatures.
The project will resume in spring/summer 2023 and is scheduled to be completed in late summer/early fall 2023.
The Arizona Department of Transportation is initiating a $2.4 million project to remove and replace the existing top layer of pavement along State Route 89A from State Route 89 to Glassford Hill Road (mileposts 317-323) in Prescott and Prescott Valley.
The project includes the following work:
- Removing and replacing the pavement on north- and southbound lanes.
- Pavement spot repairs.
- Roadway striping and other pavement markings.
Construction is expected to begin spring/summer 2023 and continue through late summer/early fall 2023.
What to Expect
While the project work is underway, motorists will encounter alternating lane closures with one lane of traffic maintained throughout construction. Drivers should plan for possible delays while the work is underway.

NOTE: Road work may need to be rescheduled due to weather
The Arizona Department of Transportation advises drivers to plan for overnight lane restrictions on State Route 89A between State Route 89 and Glassford Hill Road in Prescott and Prescott Valley.
The following restrictions are scheduled from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Sundays through Thursdays beginning Sunday evening Aug. 21, through Friday morning, Sept. 30:
- SR 89A will be narrowed to one lane of travel in each direction between SR 89 and Glassford Hill Road (mileposts 317 - 323).
- Flaggers and law enforcement will direct motorists through the work zone.
- A 16-foot vehicle width restriction will be in place.
- The speed limit will be reduced.
ADOT advises drivers to slow down and use caution around personnel and equipment while pavement repairs are underway.
