US 93: Installation of Rumble Strips, Yavapai County

Overview

The Arizona Department of Transportation is planning to install centerline rumble strips on US 93 approximately 38 miles northwest of Wickenburg (between mileposts 161-183). The purpose of the $545,000 safety improvement project is to reduce the frequency and severity of lane and road-departure crashes and includes the following:

  • Replacement of raised pavement markers.
  • Installation of new centerline pavement striping.
  • Pavement maintenance and crack-seal repair near the new rumble strips.

Construction is anticipated to begin in summer 2022 with an expected duration of 60 calendar days. The project will occur within ADOT right-of-way and easements.

Plan for overnight lane restrictions on US 93 north of Wickenburg July 18 - Aug. 5

Drivers should plan for up to 20-minute delays and allow extra travel time

The Arizona Department of Transportation advises drivers to plan for overnight lane restrictions on US 93 north of the town of Wickenburg while rumble strip installation is underway. The restrictions are scheduled nightly from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. beginning Monday evening, July 18, through the morning of Friday, Aug. 5:

Motorist should expect delays up to 20 minutes while the following restrictions are in place:

  • US 93 will be narrowed to one lane only with alternating north- and southbound travel between the Santa Maria River and the junction with State Route 71 (mileposts 161 - 183). The lanes will be closed in 2-mile increments.
  • Flaggers and a pilot car will guide motorists through the work zone.
  • Law enforcement will be on site.
  • No weekend work is scheduled.

ADOT advises drivers to be prepared to stop in the work zone while the rumble strip installation is underway.
