The Arizona Department of Transportation advises motorists traveling on US 93 south of Wikieup to expect daytime restrictions along a 12-mile section of US 93, roughly between the community of Nothing and the junction with State Route 97, beginning Wednesday, Feb. 28.

Paving is scheduled to take place weekdays from a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays through early summer. During this time, the following restrictions will be in place:

  • US 93 will be intermittently narrowed to one lane in each direction (mileposts 144 to 156).
  • Drivers should plan  for delays and be prepared for frequent stops when approaching and proceeding through the work zone. .
  • A 12-foot vehicle width restriction will be in place and the speed limit will be reduced in the work zone.

Project elements include:

  • Removing and replacing the existing pavement, including the roadway shoulders and turn lanes.
  • Paving the designated unpaved crossovers.
  • Replacing the existing guardrail, embankment curb and fencing.
  • Repairing bridge deck joint.
  • Installing in-ground rumble strips.
  • Applying new pavement markings and other related work.
  • The pavement project is scheduled to be completed this summer.

The Arizona Department of Transportation is initiating a pavement project this spring along a 12-mile section of US 93, roughly between the community of Nothing and State Route 97 (mileposts 144 to 156).

The project scope includes:

  • Removing and replacing the existing pavement, including the roadway shoulders and turn lanes.
  • Paving the designated unpaved crossovers.
  • Replacing the existing guardrail, embankment curb and fencing.
  • Bridge deck joint repairs.
  • Seeding, applying pavement markings, installing ground-in rumble strips and other related work.

What to expect during construction

  • Intermittent daytime lane restrictions on north- and southbound US 93 from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays, and 6 a.m. to noon on Fridays.
  • Drivers should be prepared to slow down in the work zone and expect delays.
  • One lane will remain open in each direction.
  • Reduced speed limit in the work zones.

ADOT reminds drivers to be prepared to stop, proceed through the work zone with caution and watch for construction personnel and equipment while construction is underway.

Project Schedule

Work is scheduled to begin in spring 2023 and be completed by summer 2024. More information on the project schedule will be posted prior to the work starting.

Plan for daytime restrictions on US 93 between Nothing and SR 97 through summer 2024 for roadway improvements

The Arizona Department of Transportation is initiating a construction project to improve the roadway along a 12-mile section of US 93, roughly between the community of Nothing and State Route 97 (mileposts 144 to 156). 

Motorists should be prepared for the following restrictions to allow construction crews to remove and replace the existing guardrail from mileposts 151 to 153:

  • Northbound US 93 will be narrowed to one lane from 6 a.m. Wednesday, April 12, through noon on Friday, April 28. 
  • Drivers should be prepared to slow down and stop in the work zone and expect delays. 
  • Reduced speed limit in the work zones.
  • A 14-foot vehicle-width restriction will be in place.
