UPDATE: Expect around-the-clock lane restrictions on US 93 north of Wickenburg to extend through August as paving work continues

The Arizona Department of Transportation advises drivers to plan for around-the-clock restrictions to continue through August as pavement work progresses along US 93 between Placeritas Creek and Date Creek, north of the junction with State Route 71 (mileposts 156-172). The following restrictions are currently in place Mondays through Thursdays:

  • US 93 is reduced to one lane only with alternating north- and southbound travel between Placeritas Creek and Date Creek (mileposts 156-172). Both daytime and evening work will occur.
  • Flaggers and a pilot car are moving drivers through the work zone.
  • The speed limit is reduced to 25 mph in the work zone, and there is a 14-foot vehicle width restriction.
  • Drivers should be prepared to make frequent stops when approaching and through the work zone.

Overview

The Arizona Department of Transportation has initiated a construction project to replace the worn pavement surface along a 16-mile section of US 93 north of the junction with State Route 71 in Yavapai County (mileposts 156-172).

Project Elements

  • Removing and repaving the roadway’s mainline, shoulders and at designated paved and unpaved crossovers.
  • Replacing bridge joints and seals and installing new embankment curb, drainage features and guardrail.
  • Installing ground-in rumble strips.
  • Restriping lane markings and other related work.

What To Expect During Construction

  • Lane restrictions.
  • Delays of up to 15 minutes.
  • Reduced speed limit in the work zone.

ADOT reminds drivers to proceed through the work zone with caution, slow down and watch for construction personnel and equipment while the lane restrictions are in place.

Project Schedule

Project is currently both daytime and nighttime work. Daytime work consists of single lane closures to complete paving. Nighttime work consists of guardrail reconstruction.

Work begin late January 2026 and is scheduled to be completed fall 2026. 

Schedule subject to change based on weather or other unforeseen factors.
