The Arizona Department of Transportation advises drivers in Tucson to plan for the following restrictions on Interstate 10 between Park Avenue and Alvernon Way, Sept. 24-Oct. 2 for road work:
Lane Restrictions:
- East-and-westbound Ajo Way between Bernard Drive and Kino Parkway/Ajo Way access road will continue to be narrowed to one lane 24-hours a day through early 2027. Drivers are advised to use alternate routes.
- North-and-southbound Palo Verde Road at the I-10 underpass will continue to be narrowed to one lane 24-hours a day through mid-December. Drivers are advised to use alternate routes.
- East-and-westbound Irvington Road at the I-10 underpass will continue to be narrowed to one lane 24-hours a day through Friday, Oct. 2. Drivers are advised to use alternate routes.
- East-and-westbound Ajo Way at the I-10 overpass will be closed to through traffic 24-hours a day beginning 8 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 2, through 5 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 8. Drivers are advised to use alternate routes.
- Detours:- Drivers accessing eastbound Ajo Way can take Benson Highway south to Kino Parkway, then take Kino Parkway north to the Kino Parkway/Ajo Way access road, then take the Kino Parkway/Ajo Way east to access eastbound Ajo Way.- Drivers accessing westbound Ajo Way can take Ajo Way west to the Kino Parkway/Ajo Way access road, then take the Kino Parkway/Ajo Way access road north to Kino Parkway, then take Kino Parkway south to Benson Highway, then take Benson Highway west to Ajo Way.

Westbound I-10 at Kino Parkway will be narrowed to one lane overnight beginning at 8 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 28, through 5 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 29 and again at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 29 through 5 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 30. This is an overnight restriction; all lanes will reopen during daytime hours.

Detour:- Drivers can take Alvernon Way south to Benson Highway, then take Benson Highway northwest to Irvington Road, then take Irvington Road west to Benson Highway, then take Benson Highway northwest to Park Avenue, then take Park Avenue north to the I-10 westbound on-ramp.

Drivers should allow extra travel time, use caution, be prepared to slow down, and merge safely when approaching and traveling through all work zones.
The Arizona Department of Transportation advises drivers to use designated detours when there are closures on state highways. Schedules are subject to change based on weather and other unforeseen factors.
