Access and Traffic Restrictions
Access and Traffic Restrictions
Tentative Traffic Restrictions
Interstate 10 will remain open to three lanes of traffic throughout the project except for overnight lane restrictions. During much of the project, I-10 will be shifted to the eastbound and westbound frontage roads.
All businesses within the work zone will remain accessible. Alternate routes will be required during significant portions of the project.
Anticipated restrictions:
- The westbound frontage road will be closed near Sunset Road. It will be converted to a two-way road between the closure point and the Ruthrauff Road on-ramp to westbound I-10 (with no direct access back to Ruthrauff Road).
- The eastbound frontage road will be closed near Walker Road. It will be converted to a two-way road between the closure point and the Ina Road on-ramp to eastbound I-10 (with no direct access back to Ina Road). Access to and from Walker Road will be maintained.
- A temporary exit ramp on eastbound I-10 will provide access to businesses located on the eastbound frontage road between Sunset and Ruthrauff roads.
- The Ruthrauff Road/El Camino del Cerro interchange will remain open during the project.
- The Ina Road interchange will remain open during the project.
- Sunset Road will be closed between Silverbell Road and I-10 for the duration of the project.
- The eastbound ramps and the westbound entrance ramp at Orange Grove will be closed for nearly the duration of the project. Access to CalPortland will be maintained during construction. The westbound exit ramp to Orange Grove Road will generally be open, but there will be at least one extended closure.
- River Road will be reduced to a single lane in each direction while the connection to Sunset Road is constructed.
Tentative Access Maps
The following documents provide tentative access plans to each of the areas where businesses operate within the work zone.
Westbound Frontage Road from Ruthrauff Road/El Camino del Cerro to Sunset Road
Eastbound Frontage Road from Sunset Road to Ruthrauff Road/El Camino del Cerro
Note: Traffic restrictions and access plans may be adjusted after a contractor joins the project team based on the contactor’s specific construction plan.
