State Route 85: Elota Avenue to Milepost 60 Pavement Preservation Project
Overview
The Arizona Department of Transportation is tentatively scheduled to begin a pavement preservation project in spring 2026 on State Route 85 from milepost 42 (Elota Avenue) to milepost 60 in Ajo.
Project Elements
- Milling and repaving of the roadway surface
- Installing fog coating to the roadway and bridge
- Replacing the guardrail
- Constructing ADA ramps at the intersection of Elota Avenue and SR 85
What to Expect
- Traffic along SR 85 will be maintained. Lane closures are anticipated during the pavement work.
- Traffic control devices will guide motorists through the construction area.
- Construction work is tentatively scheduled from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
- Drivers can expect temporary delays as traffic is redirected through a single travel lane.
- ADOT will provide advance notice of restrictions and closures to email subscribers.
