Overview

The Arizona Department of Transportation is scheduled to begin a pavement rehabilitation project on east- and westbound Interstate 10, between San Simon (milepost 377) and the New Mexico State line (milepost 391), in Cochise County.

Project Elements

  • Remove and replace existing asphalt with new asphalt
  • Replace guardrails
  • Improve drainage
  • Repair existing bridge decks
  • Install new pavement markings and signage

Project Schedule

Construction is anticipated to begin fall 2026 and be completed in spring 2028.

Schedules are subject to change due to weather and other unforeseen circumstances.

What to Expect

Traffic restrictions and work hours will vary throughout the project, but are tentatively scheduled from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 6 a.m. to noon Friday. Additionally, drivers should expect:

  • Reduced speed limit in the work zone
  • One lane of travel in each direction to be maintained during the project
  • Intermittent daytime lane restrictions
  • Temporary ramp closures during milling and paving
  • Intermittent flagging operations at traffic interchanges

ADOT will provide advance notice of restrictions and closures to email subscribers.

Drivers should be prepared to slow down when approaching the work zone, expect delays and allow for extra time when traveling through the area.
