Project Overview

The Arizona Department of Transportation is administering a project on the behalf of the  City of Bisbee to reconstruct the Moon Canyon Bridge. This bridge reconstruction project is scheduled to begin construction in February 2026. The purpose of this project is to strengthen the bridge deck, increase load capacity of the bridge, and improve traffic operations in the project area.

Project Elements

  • Reconstruct the bridge on Moon Canyon
  • Install new concrete barriers and curbs
  • Add scour protection to the abutments and channel bottom

The retaining walls for this bridge will be repaired at a later time.
 

What to Expect

The bridge intersection will be temporarily converted to an all-way stop during construction. Motorists will approach the stop sign, come to a complete stop, then continue through the intersection through a single lane.

Schedule

Schedules are subject to change due to weather and other unforeseen circumstances. This project is expected to be completed by the end of May 2026.
