Overview

The Arizona Department of Transportation anticipates beginning a project in summer 2026 to add passing lanes on north - and southbound US 191 between mileposts 132 and 135 in Graham County.

Project Elements

  • Construct new north- and southbound passing lanes
  • Construct a reinforced concrete box culvert
  • Install fencing and drainage improvements
  • Complete new pavement markings, install signage, and other related work

Project Schedule

Construction is tentatively scheduled to begin summer 2026 and is expected to complete by early 2027. Schedules are subject to change due to weather and other unforeseen circumstances.

What to Expect

  • Daytime work hours are tentatively scheduled daily from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday and Fridays from 6 a.m. to noon.
  • Reduced speed limit in the work zone during work hours.
  • Intermittent lane restrictions with alternating north- and southbound traffic on US 191 between mileposts 132-135.
    • A flagging operation will be utilized to assist drivers through the work zone.

Drivers should allow extra travel time, use caution, be prepared to slow down and merge safely when approaching and traveling through the area.
