US 60 pavement rehabilitation project in Globe breaks for winter months

The Arizona Department of Transportation advises drivers that active work on the pavement rehabilitation project on US 60, between Santee Street and US 70 (mileposts 250-252), in Globe will go on break through the winter months.

The project, which began in late August 2025, has completed installation of ADA-compliant ramps, improved sidewalk, curbs and gutters throughout the project area, as well as repaired and paved the existing bridge decks.

Crews will return in spring 2026 when temperatures warm up to begin the main line paving and permanent pavement markings.

Overview

The Arizona Department of Transportation is conducting a pavement rehabilitation project on US 60 between Santee Street (milepost 250) and US 70 (milepost 252) in Globe.

The work will consist of milling (removing) the old asphalt and repaving with new asphalt. Sidewalk, curb and gutter, guardrail and bridge improvements and other related work will also be completed. This project will improve the roadway pavement condition and update safety elements to current standards.

Project Schedule

Construction on this project began in late August 2025. Crews will work Monday through Thursday approximately 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. The project is expected to be completed in summer 2026.

Schedules are subject to change due to weather and other unforeseen circumstances.

What to Expect

Pedestrians should anticipate sidewalk restrictions in the work zone and motorists should anticipate the following restrictions:

  • Intermittent daytime lane restrictions and speed reductions in the work zone for sidewalk, curb and other improvements.
  • Nighttime lane restrictions and speed reductions for milling and paving from 8 p.m. Sunday night through 6 a.m. Friday morning are anticipated to begin early 2026.
  • Temporary closures to driveways and street intersections during milling and paving operations.
