Overview
The Arizona Department of Transportation is scheduled to begin a pavement rehabilitation project on east- and westbound US 70, between Cottonwood Wash (milepost 330) and Reay Lane (milepost 335), from the Town of Pima to Thatcher in Graham County.
The work will consist of milling (removing) the old asphalt and repaving with new asphalt. ADA improvements, guardrail replacement, new pavement markings and other related work will also be completed.
Project Elements

Project Schedule
Construction is anticipated to begin late September 2026 and be completed in summer 2027.
Schedules are subject to change due to weather and other unforeseen circumstances.
What to Expect
Traffic restrictions and work hours will vary throughout the project. ADOT will provide advance notice of the following restrictions and closures to email subscribers:
- Reduced speed limit in the work zone
- Temporary curb access ramp, sidewalk and driveway closures
- Intermittent daytime lane restrictions tentatively scheduled from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays
- Nighttime lane restrictions for paving work tentatively scheduled from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Sunday evenings through Friday mornings
Drivers should expect delays and allow for extra time when traveling through the area.
