US 70: Medicine Way Passing Lane Project
Overview
The Arizona Department of Transportation recently completed a passing lane on eastbound US 70 between mileposts 274.5 and 275.5 within the San Carlos Apache Tribe community.
The project just east of Peridot provides a 1-mile passing lane for faster moving eastbound traffic to overtake slower moving vehicles. Drainage improvements and other general maintenance work were also completed within the project limits.
Project Elements
- Constructed a new passing lane on eastbound US 70 east of Medicine Way
- Drainage and guardrail improvements
- Completed new pavement markings and install signage
Project Schedule
Construction on this project began in November 2025 and was completed August 2026.
