US 70: Reay Lane to 8th Street Pavement Rehabilitation

Overview
The Arizona Department of Transportation recently completed a pavement rehabilitation project on US 70 between Reay Lane (milepost 335.6) and 8th Street (milepost 340) in Thatcher and Safford.
The work consisted of milling (removing) the old asphalt and repaving with new asphalt. Pedestrian facility improvements, box culvert repair, fog seal, new pavement markings, sign replacement and other related work were also completed.
This project improved the roadway pavement condition, complied with pedestrian facility standards and repaired drainage elements.
Project Elements
- Replaced existing asphalt with new asphalt
- Improved existing driveways and curb access ramps
- Repaired box culvert at milepost 337
- Applied fog seal coat
- Completed new pavement markings and replaced signs
Project Schedule
Construction on this project began in early October 2025 and was completed in June 2026.
