Motorists are encouraged to use alternate routes

The Arizona Department of Transportation, in coordination with the City of San Luis, advises motorists to plan ahead for a weekend closure of Avenue F for paving.

Southbound Avenue F will be closed to through traffic at Cesar Chavez Boulevard beginning at 4 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 8, and ending 5 p.m, Sunday, Aug. 9.

Detour: Motorists are encouraged to use Avenue E or 8th Avenue.

Drivers should proceed through the work zone with caution, slow down and watch for construction and law enforcement personnel and equipment.

Overview

The City of San Luis, in coordination with the Arizona Department of Transportation began a project to reconstruct 5 miles of Cesar Chavez Boulevard between Escondido Street and Avenue E.

  • Reconstructing the roadway along Cesar Chavez Boulevard to a four lane divided roadway intersection channelization at intersecting streets
  • Construct drainage facilities
  • Install asphaltic concrete, signage
  • Install pavement marking, signals, lighting, and other related work 
  • Construction of an one-lane roundabout at the intersection of Cesar Chavez Boulevard and Escondido Street/San Luis Plaza Drive.
