County 15th Street and Avenue D Intersection Improvement
Overview
The Arizona Department of Transportation, in collaboration with the City of Somerton, will begin a project to improve the intersection of County 15th Street and Avenue D within Yuma County.

Project Elements
- Installing flashing beacons at the existing stop signs on County 15th Street
- Installing rumble strips along County 15th Street
- Reconstructing and reconfiguring driveways to properly tie into the new paved roadway surface
- Relocating mailboxes
- Relocating utilities within the project limits, as needed
- Removing, replacing and installing new signage
- Installing new striping and pavement markings
- Seeding disturbed areas with native plant species, as needed
- Trimming trees and vegetation
- Repairing or relocating fencing associated with nearby properties
- Installing temporary embedded advance warning signage during construction

Construction is anticipated to begin in late September 2026 and end in early 2027.
