PHOENIX –The Arizona Department of Transportation advises motorists with plans to use State Route 143 this weekend to allow extra time and be ready to use detours while crews with the I-10 Broadway Curve Improvement Project set up work zones and conduct utility work. 

Southbound SR 143 will be closed between the Loop 202 (Red Mountain Freeway) and I-10 from 10 p.m. Friday, Aug. 12, to 10 a.m. Sunday, Aug 14. The following ramps will also be closed:

  • The ramps from Loop 202 (Red Mountain Freeway) to southbound SR 143.
  • The southbound SR 143 on-ramps at Washington Street, Sky Harbor Boulevard and University Drive. 

Northbound SR 143 will be closed between I-10 and Washington Street from 10 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 13, to 4 a.m. Monday, Aug 15. The following ramps and local streets will also be closed:

  • The westbound I-10 ramp to northbound SR 143.
  • The northbound SR 143 on-ramp at University Drive.
  • Northbound 48th Street between Broadway Road and I-10. 

Drivers on eastbound I-10 will not be able to access northbound SR 143.

Detours

  • Southbound SR 143 detour: Use westbound Loop 202 (Red Mountain Freeway) to eastbound I-10 to access destinations south of the closure. 
  • Northbound SR 143 detour: Use westbound I-10 to eastbound Loop 202 (Red Mountain Freeway) to access destinations north of the closure. 

Airport traffic: From westbound I-10, use eastbound Buckeye Road to Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport. East Valley drivers should use 44th Street to access the airport.

PHOENIX – The Arizona Department of Transportation is advising motorists to plan ahead and be prepared for detours while Broadway Road in Tempe is closed in both directions between 55th and 48th streets from 10 p.m. Friday, Aug. 5, to 4 a.m. Monday, Aug. 8. At the same time, the eastbound Interstate 10 connector ramp between 48th Street and Broadway Road and the I-10 on- and off- ramps at Broadway Road will be closed. Drivers will not be able to access Broadway Road from 52nd Street and will need to use southbound SR 143/48th Street or Priest Drive from University Drive to access Broadway Road. 

During this closure, crews with the I-10 Broadway Curve Improvement Project will complete a temporary on-ramp from Broadway Road to westbound I-10, which will open to drivers the morning of Monday Aug. 8. Video available here.

  • Eastbound Broadway Road detour: Drivers on eastbound Broadway Road approaching 48th Street can access eastbound Broadway Road east of I-10 by using southbound 48th Street to eastbound Southern Avenue and northbound Priest Drive to access Broadway Road east of the closure.
  • Eastbound Broadway Road to eastbound I-10 detour: Drivers on eastbound Broadway Road approaching 48th Street can access eastbound I-10 by using southbound 48th Street to eastbound Baseline Road to access eastbound I-10.
  • Eastbound I-10 to eastbound Broadway Road detour: Drivers on eastbound I-10 can access eastbound Broadway Road by exiting at eastbound Baseline Road and using northbound Priest Drive.
  • Westbound Broadway Road detour: Drivers on westbound Broadway Road approaching I-10 can access westbound Broadway Road west of I-10 by using northbound Priest Drive to westbound University Drive to southbound State Route 143. 
  • Westbound I-10 to westbound Broadway Road detour: Drivers on westbound I-10 can access westbound Broadway Road by exiting at southbound 40th Street.
  • Westbound I-10 to eastbound Broadway Road detour: Drivers on westbound I-10 can access eastbound Broadway Road by exiting to northbound State Route 143 and using eastbound University Drive to southbound Priest Drive.

PHOENIX – The Arizona Department of Transportation is advising motorists to plan ahead and be prepared for detours this weekend while Broadway Road in Tempe is closed in both directions between 48th and 52nd streets from 10 p.m. Friday, July 22, to 4 a.m. Monday, July 25. At the same time, the eastbound Interstate 10 connector ramp between 48th Street and Broadway Road and the westbound I-10 off-ramp at Broadway Road will be closed. Drivers will not be able to access Broadway Road from 52nd Street and should use University Drive instead. 

This weekend's work to realign the intersection of Broadway Road and 52nd Street is occurring in conjunction with the I-10 Broadway Curve Improvement Project. The intersection is being shifted to the south so workers can make improvements to the north. Following this weekend’s work, drivers will use a temporary traffic signal at this intersection.

Westbound Broadway Road detour: Drivers on Broadway Road who need to access westbound Broadway Road should use northbound Priest Drive to westbound University Drive to southbound State Route 143 to access Broadway Road west of the closure.

PHOENIX – The Arizona Department of Transportation is advising motorists to plan ahead and prepare to use detours this weekend while traveling on Interstate 10 in the Southeast Valley. 

Eastbound I-10 will be closed between US 60 and Loop 202 (Santan/South Mountain Freeway) from 10 p.m. Friday, July 22, to 4 a.m. Monday, July 25. During this closure, crews with the I-10 Broadway Curve Improvement Project will shift work zones into the median to prepare for the installation of digital message boards. 

The following ramps will be closed:

  • The eastbound I-10 on-ramps between Broadway and Ray Roads.
  • The westbound US 60 ramp to eastbound I-10.
  • The eastbound I-10 High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) ramp to eastbound US 60.
  • The westbound US 60 HOV ramp to westbound I-10. 

Eastbound I-10 Detour: Use eastbound Loop 202 (Red Mountain Freeway) or eastbound US 60 to southbound Loop 101 (Price Freeway) to westbound Loop 202 (Santan Freeway) to access I-10 beyond the closure. 

West Valley drivers who are heading to the Southeast Valley can bypass the closure by using the Loop 202 (South Mountain Freeway). From I-10 and 59th Ave., head south and then east on Loop 202 (South Mountain Freeway) to connect with eastbound I-10 just south of Chandler Boulevard. 

This weekend’s closure is another in a series of closures on the schedule this summer. Valley motorists should plan for additional weekend closures and other restrictions through fall.

PHOENIX –  The Arizona Department of Transportation advises motorists to plan ahead and expect delays if they are traveling on Interstate 10 in the Southeast Valley this weekend. Westbound I-10 will be closed between Loop 202 (Santan/South Mountain Freeway) and US 60 from 10 p.m. Friday, July 15, to 4 a.m. Monday, July 18, so crews can shift the work zone in preparation for Guadalupe Road bridge work. 

The following ramps also will be closed:

  • The westbound I-10 on-ramp at Wild Horse Pass Boulevard/Sundust Road.
  • The eastbound Loop 202 (South Mountain Freeway) ramp to westbound I-10.
  • The westbound Loop 202 (Santan Freeway) ramps to westbound I-10.
  • The westbound I-10 on-ramps between Chandler Boulevard and Elliot Road. 

Westbound I-10 Detour: Use eastbound Loop 202 (Santan Freeway) to northbound Loop 101 (Price Freeway) to westbound US 60 or westbound Loop 202 (Red Mountain Freeway) to access westbound I-10 beyond the closure. Drivers heading to the West Valley can use Loop 202 (South Mountain Freeway) west and northbound to connect to I-10 at 59th Avenue. 

Also this weekend, eastbound I-10 will be restricted at times in the same area while crews move temporary barriers. Drivers should expect slower traffic and be prepared to merge safely into the open travel lanes as follows:

  • Eastbound Interstate 10 will be narrowed to two lanes at Elliot Road from 3 a.m. to 11:59 p.m. Saturday, July  16, for barrier work. At the same time, the eastbound I-10 off-ramp at Elliot Road will be closed. Drivers can use the eastbound I-10 off-ramp at Warner Road instead.
  • Eastbound Interstate 10 will be narrowed to three lanes between Warner and Ray roads from 4 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday, July 17, for barrier work. At the same time, the eastbound I-10 on-ramp at Warner Road and eastbound I-10 off-ramp at Ray Road will be closed. Drivers can use the eastbound I-10 on-ramp at Ray Road and off-ramp at Warner Road instead.

This weekend’s closure is another in a series of closures on the schedule this summer. Valley motorists should plan for additional weekend closures and other restrictions through fall.

PHOENIX – As part of the I-10 Broadway Curve Improvement Project, Guadalupe Road will be closed in both directions between Pointe Parkway and Calle Sahuaro from 4 a.m. Monday, July 11, through 8 p.m. Monday, July 25th, as crews install storm drains. 

During this two-week closure, the Guadalupe Road bridge over Interstate 10 will be closed to all users.

  • Westbound Detour: Use southbound Kyrene Road to westbound Elliot Road to northbound 48th Street/Pointe Parkway to access Guadalupe Road west of the closure.
  • Eastbound Detour: Use southbound 48th Street/Pointe Parkway to eastbound Elliot Road to northbound Kyrene Road to access Guadalupe Road east of the closure.

The following ramps also will be closed:

  • The eastbound I-10 on-ramps between Third and 40th streets.
  • The ramp from southbound SR 143 to eastbound I-10. 
  • The southbound I-17 on-ramps at Seventh Avenue and Seventh Street.
  • The ramp from southbound I-17 to eastbound I-10.
  • The westbound Loop 202 (Red Mountain Freeway) ramp to eastbound I-10.

PHOENIX – As part of the Interstate 10 Broadway Curve Improvement Project, Broadway Road will be closed in both directions between 48th and 52nd streets from 10 p.m. Friday, June 10, through 4 a.m Monday, June 13. During this closure, crews will replace temporary barriers and adjust lane stripes along the roadway. 

What’s Affected

The eastbound I-10 connector ramp between 48th Street and Broadway Road will be closed.

The westbound I-10 off-ramp at Broadway Road will be closed. 

Drivers will not be able to access Broadway Road from 52nd Street and should use University Drive instead. 

Detour Routes

Westbound Broadway Road detour: Drivers on Broadway Road who need to access westbound Broadway Road should travel north on Priest Drive to westbound University Drive to reach State Route 143. Travel south on SR 143 to access Broadway Road west of the closure.

Westbound I-10 to westbound Broadway Road detour: Drivers on westbound I-10 who need to access westbound Broadway Road should exit at 40th Street and use southbound 40th Street to access Broadway Road west of the closure.

PHOENIX – The Interstate 10 Broadway Curve Improvement Project is updating its detour route information for this weekend’s I-10 closure between the Loop 202 (Santan/South Mountain Freeway) and US 60 (Superstition Freeway).

UPDATED: US 60 is closed in both directions between Rural Road and Loop 101 (Price Freeway) due to water on the roadway. 

  • Eastbound lanes on US 60 are exiting at Rural Road and westbound lanes are being diverted to Loop 101 (Price Freeway). 
  • To bypass this weekend’s I-10 closure, drivers should use the north and southbound Loop 101 (Price Freeway) between the east and westbound Loop 202 - Santan and Red Mountain freeways.

There is no estimated time to reopen the US 60. Drivers should plan for long delays.

PHOENIX –  The Arizona Department of Transportation advises motorists to expect delays and allow plenty of extra travel time when Interstate 10 is closed in both directions between the Loop 202 (Santan/South Mountain freeway) and US 60 (Superstition Freeway) this weekend. 

Crews with the I-10 Broadway Curve Improvement Project will remove the north face of the Guadalupe Road bridge in preparation for widening work, and Salt River Project crews will conduct utility relocation work during the closure.

Westbound I-10 will be closed between Loop 202 and US 60 from 10 p.m. Friday, May 6, to noon Sunday, May 8. The following ramps will also be closed:

  • The westbound I10 on-ramps between Chandler Boulevard and Elliot Road.
  • The westbound I-10 on-ramp at Wild Horse Pass Boulevard.
  • All ramps from westbound Loop 202 (Santan Freeway) to westbound I-10.
