Beyond helping keep Arizona grand, their goal is topping the 1.3 tons of litter removed from state highways on last year’s National CleanUp Day. ADOT won’t have the totals for a few days, but the fact that participation doubled this year bodes well for a big number.  

Have you received text messages suggesting that the Arizona Department of Transportation (or something close to that) is after you for unpaid tickets or tolls? ADOT has created a web resource in English and Spanish to help you identify these for the scams they are. 

The Arizona Department of Transportation will hold a public meeting Tuesday, Sept. 30, to share details of an upcoming US 93 widening project near Wickenburg that’s part of a long-term plan to divide the highway between Phoenix and Nevada.

ADOT Director Jennifer Toth presented the awards Wednesday, praising the team’s quick thinking and fast action when they heard a distant cry for help early Aug. 6. The six followed the sound until they found the woman clinging to a tire floating in a canal, then linked themselves together to pull her out.

The 20-year agreement with Cox marks another key milestone in Arizona’s mission to expand high-speed internet access to rural areas across the state. ADOT has installed fiber-optic conduit along I-19 and I-17 and is adding it along I-40 between Flagstaff and the California line.

ADOT is inviting the public to submit engaging traffic safety messages for the ninth year in its Safety Message Contest. Submissions are open through Sept. 22 at azdot.gov/SignContest. 

The $11.4 million pavement rehabilitation applied a micro-surface to protect the existing asphalt, replaced pavement markings and made spot pavement repairs on 13 miles of US 191 beginning south of Clifton and ending northwest of Morenci in Greenlee County.

The Arizona Department of Transportation is scheduled to begin a year-long closure of Country Club Road at Interstate 10 the evening of Monday, Sept. 8, as part of a project to widen I-10 from Kino Parkway to Alvernon Way.

Rock blasting work will require a full closure of US 93 northwest of Kingman the night of Tuesday, Aug. 26, as part of the ongoing project to construct a free-flowing interchange between Interstate 40 and US 93.

The Arizona Department of Transportation is nearing the halfway point on a project that is constructing 4 miles of a divided four-lane highway on US 93 between the Phoenix area and Las Vegas.

From an ADOT maintenance yard, they heard woman yelling and jumped in vehicles to follow the sound. They found her struggling in the water a quarter mile away, linked arms and extended a shovel to pull her to safety.  

Some scammers are adding an ADOT Motor Vehicle Division logo to this all-too-common fake claiming unpaid traffic citations and promising penalties aplenty if you don’t pay. ADOT has seen two versions so far, both of them featuring grammatical errors and originating from overseas.
