PHOENIX –The Arizona Department of Transportation advises motorists to allow extra travel time and plan to use detours if they are traveling on Interstate 10 in the East Valley and near Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport this weekend. Eastbound I-10 will be closed between State Route 51 and US 60 from 10 p.m. Friday, Aug. 19, to 4 a.m. Monday, Aug. 22, as crews continue bridge work as part of the Interstate 10 Broadway Curve Improvement Project.

During this closure, the following ramps will be closed:

KINGMAN – The Arizona Department of Transportation has submitted an application for a federal bridge grant that, if awarded, would allocate nearly $73 million toward the construction of the planned West Kingman Traffic Interchange that will provide a free-flowing connection between US 93 and Interstate 40.

PHOENIX –The Arizona Department of Transportation advises motorists with plans to use State Route 143 this weekend to allow extra time and be ready to use detours while crews with the I-10 Broadway Curve Improvement Project set up work zones and conduct utility work. 

Southbound SR 143 will be closed between the Loop 202 (Red Mountain Freeway) and I-10 from 10 p.m. Friday, Aug. 12, to 10 a.m. Sunday, Aug 14. The following ramps will also be closed:

PAYSON - Motorists traveling on State Route 260 between Heber-Overgaard and Payson should plan for daytime delays of up to 30 minutes for the next five months as the Arizona Department of Transportation works on a roadway safety improvement project.

The project will require crews to narrow the highway to a single lane east of Christopher Creek, with work scheduled Mondays through Thursdays from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. Restrictions are scheduled to begin Monday, Aug. 8 and continue through Dec. 30 roughly between Old Rim Road and Aspen Lane, which is from mileposts 282-305.

PHOENIX – The Arizona Department of Transportation is advising motorists to plan ahead and be prepared for detours while Broadway Road in Tempe is closed in both directions between 55th and 48th streets from 10 p.m. Friday, Aug. 5, to 4 a.m. Monday, Aug. 8. At the same time, the eastbound Interstate 10 connector ramp between 48th Street and Broadway Road and the I-10 on- and off- ramps at Broadway Road will be closed.

PHOENIX – The Arizona Department of Transportation and partner agencies will hold a free, virtual event in August through the agency’s Disadvantaged Business Enterprise program to help small businesses and those owned by individuals from socially and economically disadvantaged groups compete for transportation contracts that receive federal funding.

Westbound Interstate 10 will be closed between US 60 and SR 143 from 10 p.m. Friday, July 29, to 4 a.m. Monday, Aug. 1, as crews continue to work on the new Broadway Road bridge as part of the Interstate 10 Broadway Curve Improvement Project. 

PHOENIX - July 2022 marks the first full year of active construction of the Interstate 10 Broadway Curve Improvement Project, and phase one of the project is now complete.

It was July 27, 2021, when crews began removing the rubberized asphalt from I-10 and setting up the work zones; since then, significant progress has been made, most notably in the Broadway Curve itself between Baseline Road and 40th Street.

 Among the accomplishments to date:

The Arizona Department of Transportation will begin a third round of pavement replacement work on the State Route 77/Oracle Road improvement project starting the week of Sunday, July 24, with plans to resurface one mile of the highway in the coming weeks.

The paving will take place between Ina and Magee roads. As with most work on the project, crews will pave the roadway in the overnight hours to minimize restrictions and delays. Work is scheduled Sundays through Thursdays between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m.

PHOENIX – The Arizona Department of Transportation is advising motorists to plan ahead and be prepared for detours this weekend while Broadway Road in Tempe is closed in both directions between 48th and 52nd streets from 10 p.m. Friday, July 22, to 4 a.m. Monday, July 25. At the same time, the eastbound Interstate 10 connector ramp between 48th Street and Broadway Road and the westbound I-10 off-ramp at Broadway Road will be closed. Drivers will not be able to access Broadway Road from 52nd Street and should use University Drive instead. 

FLAGSTAFF – As the Arizona Department of Transportation makes a final push to complete a pavement project on I-40 between I-17 and Walnut Canyon Road in Flagstaff, drivers should expect alternating lane restrictions and delays while traveling through the area.

Beginning Thursday, July 21, there will be alternating lane restrictions on I-40 throughout the 10-mile project area during daytime hours from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Drivers should expect delays of 30 minutes or more.

PHOENIX – The Arizona Department of Transportation is advising motorists to plan ahead and prepare to use detours this weekend while traveling on Interstate 10 in the Southeast Valley. 

Eastbound I-10 will be closed between US 60 and Loop 202 (Santan/South Mountain Freeway) from 10 p.m. Friday, July 22, to 4 a.m. Monday, July 25. During this closure, crews with the I-10 Broadway Curve Improvement Project will shift work zones into the median to prepare for the installation of digital message boards. 

Arizona 4-H, Arizona Education, Congenital Heart Defect Awareness and Thunderbirds Charities among new plates offered

PHOENIX – Arizonans now have even more choices to support their favorite charitable cause as the Arizona Department of Transportation Motor Vehicle Division is making available four new specialty license plates.

WICKENBURG, AZ – The Arizona Department of Transportation will begin a project to improve safety along US 93 north of Wickenburg by installing centerline rumble strips along a 20-mile section of the highway.

The project area stretches from the Santa Maria River to the junction with State Route 71, which is mileposts 161 to 183. The work will take place overnights from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. beginning Monday, July 18, and lasting through early August. No weekend work is scheduled.

PHOENIX – More than 3 million Arizonans have discovered the safest, fastest and most convenient way to complete services with the Arizona Department of Transportation Motor Vehicle Division.

Since launching in April 2020, more than 3 million Arizonans have activated their free AZMVDNow.gov account, giving them access to the primary online portal for MVD customers. 

WINDOW ROCK, AZ – The Arizona Department of Transportation is starting a pavement preservation project on State Route 264 near Window Rock on Monday, July 18, to create a smoother ride for drivers.

This $7.2 million project will include removing the existing surface pavement and replacing it with new asphalt, making spot pavement repairs and restriping the roadway. The work will cover an 11-mile stretch of SR 264 from mileposts 465 to 476 at the New Mexico state line.

PHOENIX – Great job, Arizona!

The Arizona Department of Transportation received more than 3,100 entries to its annual Safety Message Contest. Now, those entries have been narrowed down to 12 finalists and it’s up to the public to choose the winners.

Today through July 18, Arizonans can view the finalists and vote for their favorite traffic safety message at azdot.gov/signcontest. The two messages that receive the most votes will be displayed on Dynamic Message Signs statewide.

PHOENIX –  The Arizona Department of Transportation advises motorists to plan ahead and expect delays if they are traveling on Interstate 10 in the Southeast Valley this weekend. Westbound I-10 will be closed between Loop 202 (Santan/South Mountain Freeway) and US 60 from 10 p.m. Friday, July 15, to 4 a.m. Monday, July 18, so crews can shift the work zone in preparation for Guadalupe Road bridge work.

PHOENIX - The Arizona Department of Transportation has scheduled a virtual public meeting on Thursday, July 14, to provide information and gather input about the ADOT Electric Vehicle (EV) Plan currently being prepared. The event is scheduled from 6 to 7:30 p.m. and can be accessed online or by phone.
