UPDATE: Plan for continued overnight lane restrictions on north- and southbound I-19 between Ajo Way and Valencia Road in Tucson through Sept. 2
This alert extends the lane restrictions end date from Aug. 31
The Arizona Department of Transportation advises drivers to plan for continued overnight lane restrictions along north- and southbound Interstate 19 between Ajo Way and Valencia Road from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday, Aug. 31, through Wednesday, Sept. 2, as work on the I-19, Irvington Road interchange improvement project continues in Tucson.
Motorists can expect the following overnight lane restrictions:
- North- and southbound I-19 will be narrowed to one lane between Ajo Way and Valencia Road
- A 16-foot vehicle width restriction on I-19 will be in place.
- The speed limit will be reduced to 45 mph in the work zone.
REMINDER: East- and westbound nighttime lane restrictions on Irvington Road at the I-19 interchange will continue through spring 2028. The speed limit will be reduced to 25 mph.
Drivers should allow extra time, use caution, be prepared to slow down and merge safely when approaching and traveling through all work zones.
