The top 10 Specialty Plates 2025.

Whether a driver wants to support a cause, rep their team or just add a pop of color to their car, with 109 specialty license plates available in Arizona, there’s a little something for everyone. And specialty license plates are more popular than ever, with over 955,000 plates ordered or renewed during the 2025 calendar year.

Specialty license plates cost $25 initially and annually, $17 of which goes to a specific charitable cause or organization working to better Arizona. All of the available specialty plate designs and the charities they support can be found at azmvdnow.gov/plates.

Here are the 10 most popular specialty license plates in Arizona for 2025:

  1. Veteran’s Plates
  2. First Responder
  3. Arizona Highways
  4. Military Support/Freedom
  5. Arizona Cardinals
  6. Route 66
  7. Empower
  8. Arizona Education
  9. Arizona State University
  10. Honoring Fallen Police Officers

The top three spots have stayed consistent over the past few years, but notably in 2025, the Military Support/Freedom plate surpassed the Arizona Cardinals plate.

The Route 66 plate held onto its spot. While the Empower specialty plate, which was released in fall 2023 to support charitable organizations that serve veterans and military families, moved up from spot 9 in 2024 to spot 7 in 2025, surpassing the Arizona State University and Arizona Education plates.

Meanwhile, the Honoring Fallen Police Officers plate, which provides support and resources to survivors affected by line-of-duty deaths in Arizona, knocked the University of Arizona specialty plate off the top 10 list entirely.

Three new specialty plates became available at the end of 2025:

  • Ovarian Cancer Awareness: $17 of the fee goes to support programs that provide education, resources, and direct support services to ovarian cancer patients, survivors and caregivers through the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition.
  • Phoenix Mercury: $17 goes to the Phoenix Suns/Phoenix Mercury Foundation, using the platform of basketball to provide resources and support that strengthen and unite communities across Arizona.
  • Verde Valley Wine Trail: Supports sustainable vineyard practices, promoting responsible driving initiatives, as well as inspiring more people to visit and discover the beauty of northern Arizona.
