What is Arizona ID in Arizona Wallet?

Mobile Driver License (mDL) and State ID cards in Arizona Wallet will provide an easy and secure way for Arizonans to present their state Driver License or State ID.”

What Do I Need to Use Arizona ID in Arizona Wallet?

Requirements:

  • Have a valid Arizona Driver License or State-issued identification card.
  • Have the Arizona Wallet app downloaded on your smartphone.

How is my information protected?

  • With Arizona Wallet, you're in control of the information you share with digital verifiers for state services or other businesses. Arizona Wallet will never share any of the information from your wallet with a digital verifier unless you approve it.
  • Arizona cannot track where or when you use your mDL – with the exception of using your mDL to verify your identity for online services in AZ MVD Now.
  • Arizona Wallet will not add any credentials to your wallet without first verifying that you are the one requesting it. You will need to pass our secure identity verification process before you are able to add any state credentials to the Arizona Wallet.
  • All personal information for state credentials in Arizona Wallet is safe-guarded with biometric authentication (face or fingerprint) so only you can view your sensitive information.

Is my Arizona ID in Arizona Wallet Valid in Other States?

Arizona Mobile ID is accepted anywhere that utilizes the international standard for mDL.

Mobile Driver Licenses (mDLs) are primarily used at participating TSA airport security checkpoints, for age verification at some bars, restaurants, and stores, and for specific state services (like MVD offices) in states that issue them (e.g., Arizona, Colorado, Maryland).

Please visit the TSA Digital ID site for the most up to date information on TSA acceptance.

You should continue to carry your physical ID as mDL acceptance is still growing and not a universal standard.

Is There a Charge to Use Arizona ID in Arizona Wallet?

No, the app is free to download and use. The app will never charge you for use of your Arizona Mobile Driver License or State ID.

Is Arizona ID in Arizona Wallet the Same as mID?

No. The MID app and the Arizona Wallet app are two different apps.

Do I need to have a Real ID to add my Arizona ID to Arizona Wallet?

No, you are not required to have an Arizona Real ID, to add your Mobile Driver License or State ID to Arizona Wallet.

Does my Mobile Driver License or State ID replace my physical license?

No, a Mobile Driver License or State ID is not a replacement for a physical ID. A Mobile Driver License or State ID can only be used in select instances that require ID presentation. You should continue to carry your physical Driver License/State ID as a form of identification.

Can I get the app on Android or iPhone?

Yes. The Arizona Wallet app is available for iOS and Android mobile devices.

Adding my Arizona ID in Arizona Wallet

How do I add my Driver License or State ID to Arizona Wallet?

  1. Download the Arizona Wallet app from the Apple App Store or Google Play
  2. Open the Arizona Wallet app on your mobile device; complete any necessary setup and allow the necessary permissions
  3. Tap the ‘Add to Wallet’ button on the home screen
  4. Select ‘Driver License or State ID’ from the list of card types
  5. Follow the instructions provided to scan your physical Driver License/State ID, perform a face scan, and submit your request.
  6. Once ADOT MVD approves your request, your Mobile Driver License or State ID will be available to use in the Arizona Wallet.

Do I need a physical ID card to add a Mobile Driver License or State ID to Arizona Wallet?

Yes. You are required to scan the front and back of your current physical Driver License or State ID as part of the process.

Managing My Arizona ID in Arizona Wallet

How do I remove my Mobile Driver License or State ID from Arizona Wallet?

Open the Arizona Wallet app. Select the card you wish to remove. Click on the info icon in the top right corner of the screen. At the bottom of the screen, select the ‘Remove’ button. Confirm that you would like to remove the card and all associated data from the Arizona Wallet.

I removed my Arizona Driver License or State ID from Arizona Wallet. How do I get it back?

You will re-add the ID by performing the same steps you initially took to add it.

Where can I view the details of my Mobile Driver License or State ID?

Open the Arizona Wallet app. Select the card you’d like to view. Click on the info icon in the top right corner of the screen. On the info page, click ‘Driver License or State ID info’. Authenticate with your Face ID or Fingerprint. You should then be able to view your credential details.

If my information changes, how will my Mobile Driver License or State ID get updated?

If your information changes – such as your address, name, or credential photo – ADOT MVD will automatically update your mobile credential.

What should I do if I misplace or lose the device with my Arizona Driver License or State ID added to Arizona Wallet?

You can disable and re-enable any Mobile IDs from your customer account on AZ MVD Now. You may also Contact MVD to disable or re-enable your Mobile credentials.

Using Arizona ID in Arizona Wallet

How do I use my mobile Driver License or State ID?

At participating airport TSA checkpoints, you have two options to present your Mobile ID at a TSA identity reader:

  • NFC tap: This feature is currently only available on Android devices. To present your Mobile ID using NFC, tap your phone near the TSA identity machine's NFC reader. When you have done this successfully, your phone will display the information requested by the TSA identity reader. Authenticate via Fingerprint or Face ID to confirm and share your mobile Driver License or State ID information with the TSA identify reader.
  • QR Code: To present your ID via QR code, open the Arizona Wallet app. Select the card you’d like to present. Tap on the QR code icon in the top right corner of the screen. You can scan this QR code on the TSA identity machine's QR code reader.
  • Note: Currently, a mobile Driver License or State ID can only be used at select TSA checkpoints in select airports in participating states. Please visit the TSA Digital ID site for the most up to date information on TSA acceptance.
  • You should continue to carry your physical Driver License or State ID as a form of identification.

Mobile Vehicle Documents in Arizona Wallet will provide an easy and secure way for Arizonans to access their vehicle Registration, Title, and Insurance information. Arizona Wallet users with mobile vehicle documents will also receive alerts about upcoming expiration dates, and access to Registration Renewal from the app.

What do I need to have to add my vehicle documents in Arizona Wallet?

Requirements:

  • A valid Arizona Driver License or State-issued identification card.
  • Have the Arizona Wallet app downloaded on your smartphone.
  • Have your Mobile Driver License or State ID added to your Arizona Wallet.

What Vehicle Documents can I add to Arizona Wallet?

Vehicle Registration
You can add a vehicle registration if you currently have any one of these ownership roles:

  • Owner
  • Lessee
  • Registrant
  • Administrator
  • Conservator
  • Fiduciary
  • Guardian

Vehicle Title
You can add a vehicle title if you currently have any one of these ownership roles:

  • Owner
  • Admin
  • Conservator
  • Fiduciary
  • Guardian
  • Lessor 

Vehicle Insurance
You can add vehicle insurance information if you currently have any one of these ownership roles:

  • Owner
  • Lessee
  • Registrant
  • Administrator
  • Conservator
  • Fiduciary
  • Guardian

Can I add documents for more than one vehicle?

Yes. When you request your vehicle documents in Arizona Wallet, if your request is approved all of your current vehicles will be added to the wallet. If you get any new vehicles after you have already added vehicles to your wallet, you can add any new vehicles by submitting another request.

Note that you can remove any or all vehicles from your wallet at any time/

Managing my Vehicle Documents in Arizona Wallet

How are my mobile vehicle documents updated?

Vehicle Registration
Your mobile vehicle registration will automatically update whenever your registration status changes or your registration is renewed. If your registration is renewed while current registration is still active and valid, Arizona Wallet will update with new registration info once the current one has expired.

Vehicle Title
Your vehicle title will automatically update with any new information. If you transfer your title, it will be automatically removed from your wallet.

Vehicle Insurance
Currently, there are no automatic updates for your mobile insurance information in Arizona Wallet.

What reminders & notifications will I receive about my vehicle documents?

Currently, Arizona Wallet will send users reminders & notifications about your vehicle documents when:

  • Your registration is expiring soon
  • Your registration has expired
  • Your vehicle card has been removed from wallet
  • This can happen if your Mobile Driver License was removed from the wallet, or if you no longer hold the required ownership roles for that vehicle.
  • You are able to add new vehicles to the wallet

How do I secure my Mobile Vehicle Documents if my phone is lost or stolen?

To pause access to your Mobile Vehicle Documents, you can navigate to your AZ MVD Now customer dashboard Mobile ID Management page, and select the documents or credentials you want to pause access to.

What happens to my Mobile Vehicle Documents if I sell my car?

Vehicle documents are removed from the wallet automatically once you no longer meet the ownership requirements set by ADOT MVD.

Using Vehicle Documents in Arizona Wallet

How can I use my Mobile Vehicle Documents?

Mobile vehicle docs are useful for having quick, convenient access to document information, receiving helpful reminders & alerts, and accessing select vehicle document services such as registration renewal.

Please note that Mobile Vehicle Documents are optional to use. AZ MVD will continue to issue physical vehicle documents to Arizona residents. Arizonans should continue to have their physical vehicle registration on hand as awareness about mobile vehicle documents grows.

Can I share my Mobile Vehicle Documents?

Arizona Wallet does not currently allow users to share their Mobile Vehicle Documents.
