You'll need to bring the following to your visit to get an Arizona Driver License or ID Card.

• Current Driver license or identification card.
• Proof of authorized presence in the U.S.
• Know your Social Security number (Social Security Card may be required to verify name changes). For the Travel ID (REAL ID) (Note: this is voluntary), you'll also need two items from a business, organization, or government entity showing current residency.

Information and resources for teenage drivers:

• Bring Your Instruction Permit or Graduated License (where applicable)
• Practice Driver License Written Exams
• Driver License Manual
• Driving Schools

For each vehicle bring:

• Current Vehicle Title and Current Vehicle Registration
• Proof of Insurance

You may also need Emissions Testing. If so, complete it before your MVD visit.


You are considered an Arizona Resident if any of the following applies:

• You work in Arizona (other than for seasonal agricultural work).
• You are registered to vote in this state.
• You place children in school without paying the tuition rate of a nonresident.
• You have a business with an office in Arizona that bases and operates vehicles in this state.
• You obtain a state license or pay school tuition fees at the same rate as an Arizona resident.
• You have a business that operates vehicles to transport goods or passengers within Arizona.
• You remain in Arizona for a total of seven months or more during any calendar year, regardless of your permanent residence.
