Selling Your Vehicle
Selling Your Vehicle
Selling or transferring ownership of your vehicle?
Here's what you need to do:
- Transfer the title to the new owner
- Protect Yourself by submitting a Sold Notice
- Apply for a registration refund (if you're eligible)
You can complete many of these steps quickly using AZ MVD Now online services.
Note: Make sure you remove the license plate before the new owner takes possession of the vehicle.
Odometer Disclosures
Take the time to record the reading on your odometer; do not guess at your odometer reading! Proper recording is required by law and can help ensure that your vehicle maintains its value.
In most cases, odometer disclosure is required for vehicles 2011 model year or newer and recommended for older vehicles.
Transfer of Ownership
Transfer your title using one of these methods:
Fast & Easy Online Option
Use eTitle Transfer to transfer your title electronically—it's convenient and secure! Check if you're eligible.
Paper Title Option (Office Visit Required)
Sign the back of your title and give it to the buyer. The buyer will take the signed title to an MVD or Third Party location to complete the transfer.
Title Transfer Bill of Sale
This is for Arizona-titled vehicles only
Tip: Save time and skip the trip—try eTitle Transfer first!
Multiple Owners
If there is more than one owner, the Legal Status will determine which signatures are required to transfer ownership.
