UPDATE: Overnight ramp and cross street closures along Loop 101 (Agua Fria Freeway) scheduled Sept. 22-30
The Arizona Department of Transportation advises drivers to plan for the following closures as part of the Loop 101 (Agua Fria Freeway) widening project:
Overnight closures Sept. 22-30
- UPDATED: 51st Avenue at Loop 101 will be closed in both directions nightly from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. beginning Monday, Sept. 22, ending the morning of Friday, Sept. 26.
- Detour: Drivers may use 59th Avenue to travel north or south of Loop 101.
- UPDATED: The westbound Loop 101 on-ramp at 67th Avenue will be closed from 10 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 24, to 5 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 25.
- UPDATED: The westbound Loop 101 off-ramp at 59th Avenue will be closed nightly from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 25, to the morning of Friday, Sept. 26, and again Monday, Sept. 29, to the morning of Tuesday, Sept. 30.
Upcoming closures Oct. 5-22
- UPDATED: The eastbound Loop 101 off-ramp at 51st Avenue will be closed from 10 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 5, to 5 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 6.
- The westbound frontage road (Beardsley Road) will be closed between 35th Avenue and just west of 41st Avenue from 4 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 1 through 4 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 22.
- Detour: Local traffic may use Mohawk Lane to 35th Avenue to access westbound Loop 101.
ONGOING RESTRICTIONS
Lane restrictions are ongoing at the following locations for bridge work and frontage road improvements.
At the 51st and 35th avenue interchanges:
- All on- and off-ramps will be narrowed to one lane
- The left-turn lane for both east- and westbound on-ramps will be narrowed to one lane
- 51st and 35th avenues will be narrowed to one lane under Loop 101
At the 31st Avenue interchange:
- The 31st Avenue shoulders will be closed under Loop 101. Pedestrian access is still available.
Frontage roads:
Much of the work on the frontage roads was completed in March 2025. Short-term periodic restrictions on the frontage roads may be needed in the future.
