§28-9503 Vehicle for Hire company permits; fees; violation; classification

A Vehicle for Hire Company may not operate in this state unless the Vehicle for Hire company is issued a permit by the department.

Many MVD services, such as registration renewals, address changes, voter registration, license plate refunds, temporary permits and more can be conducted online — day and night, seven days a week — at your convenience. Visit azmvdnow.gov before you visit an MVD office.

Yes, you should avoid the last day and the 15th of each month. Vehicle registrations expire at those times, and there are penalties for late payment. Crowds also tend to increase over lunch hours, so avoiding the middle of the day might save time.

It varies quite a bit, but usually the shortest waits are in the mornings from approximately 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. and midweek, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

Make sure you bring all required documentation with you to conduct your specific transactions. If you're getting a driver license or identification card, fill out the Arizona Driver License/Identification Card application on the MVD website and save time in the office. Many transactions can be conducted without MVD staff assistance and with no wait using the Service Arizona self-service workstations, which are in most of the offices.

It is the responsibility of the owner to notify the Motor Vehicle Division Aircraft Registration Unit in writing

Requests for hearings on a decision must be made in writing within 30 days of the decision. Hearings will be scheduled and held in accordance with Title 41, Chapter 6, Article 6. Parties may appeal hearing decisions pursuant to Title 12, Chapter 7, Article 6.

If an aircraft that is registered in Arizona is lost or destroyed, the owner, the owner’s legal representative, or the insurer of the aircraft must inform MVD by filing a completed Aircraft Exemption Affidavit within 30 days of the loss or destruction. The lost or destroyed aircraft's registration expires when MVD receives the notification.

ADOT provides funding to public airports to design and construct aviation facilities, acquire land for airport purposes and conduct planning and environmental studies. ADOT will fund 90 percent of a project to qualified public airports and half an airport's local share of a federally funded airport-development grant.

ADOT does not fund private airport development.
