The nation's birthday is a great time to reflect on Arizonans serving the community. Last year, more than 5,900 volunteers assembled to bag litter along adopted miles of state highways.

The Arizona Department of Transportation has initiated a rehabilitation project on several bridges along US 89 between Willow Springs and Cameron on the Navajo Nation (mileposts 471-482). Construction is expected to begin this summer and be completed in fall 2023.

Each week, ADOT showcases a specialty plate on our social media platforms with the goal of drawing attention to the worthy cause or charity featured on that particular plate.

People litter when they throw their garbage somewhere instead of putting it in a trash can. Sometimes people litter when they don’t care about the place where they’re throwing their trash, or when they think someone else will come and clean up after them.
