US 60 Corridor Study (State Route 74 to Wickenburg)

The purpose of the US 60 Corridor Study is to identify and evaluate improvement alternatives on US 60 between milepost 111 and 120, and to recommend feasible solution(s) to improve safety and ease of travel on this stretch of the highway. US 60 serves as Wickenburg’s principal connection to the Phoenix metropolitan area. An increase in through-traffic, along with increased local traffic that uses US 60, is contributing to congestion and safety concerns for the route.

Public Involvement/Outreach

The corridor study will solicit input from a broad range of stakeholders so the outcomes are supported. The public involvement program will center around two phases of outreach:

Phase 1 – Scoping. A survey has been prepared to gather input on the corridor.  The survey will be distributed to homes and business within the corridor limits and hard copies will be available at the Wickenburg Town offices and public library, as well as emailed to anyone who has subscribed for updates.  Completed surveys will be accepted until September 6, 2019.

Phase 2 – Presentation of findings and draft recommendations.  The presentation of findings and draft recommendations will be presented during regularly scheduled town and/or County meetings.

Study Process

US 60 Corridor Study recommendations will be developed for consideration and advancement to ADOT’s Strategic Corridor Program. The process that will be used and the documents that will be created to develop the study recommendations, include:

Traffic and Safety Analysis Report will analyze traffic operations and safety of potential alternatives to increase capacity and improve operation of this stretch of the highway.

Environmental Overview will identify issues for consideration in the future evaluation of alternatives and the design of improvements. The Environmental Overview will identify information needed to meet National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) requirements for the recommended improvements.

The Final Corridor Study will summarize the Traffic and Safety Analysis Report, Environmental Overview, and Public Involvement Summary report, and include an implementation plan for use in potential future programming.
The Final Corridor Study will also contain illustrative descriptions of recommended improvements and cost estimates for implementation.
