The SR 347 Improvement Project will provide added capacity, help alleviate congestion, and improve safety and traffic flow along this busy stretch of roadway that drivers depend on every day.

The planned improvements include:

  • Adding one lane in each direction along SR 347 from I-10 to the City of Maricopa
  • Constructing a concrete barrier to physically separate north- and southbound traffic
  • Rehabilitating the existing pavement along that same 14-mile stretch of roadway
  • Constructing new grade-separated interchanges at Riggs Road and Mammoth Way
  • Adding turn lanes and other intersection improvements at Casa Blanca Road and Maricopa Road

Roadway Widening and Median Construction

When completed, the SR 347 will consist of 3 travel lanes in each direction. North- and south-bound travel will be separated by a new concrete median.

Phase 1: Pavement Rehabilitation

The first phase of this project will be to rehabilitate the existing travel lanes and shoulders along SR 347 between Interstate 10 and the City of Maricopa. This work will provide a smoother, more comfortable driving surface for motorists while preparing the roadway for widening and interchange construction, which is expected to begin winter 2026.

Rehabilitating the pavement in advance of this work will allow our construction crews to focus on that work, rather than fixing potholes in the existing pavement during the heavy construction later this year.

Grade Separated Interchanges

Grade-separated interchanges will allow for through traffic to continue uninterrupted by elevating over east-west traffic. This project includes two new grade separated interchanges; one at Riggs Road and one at Mammoth Way/Cement Plant Road. Together, these improvements are estimated to reduce travel times by approximately 10 minutes.

Intersection Improvements

Intersection improvements will enhance traffic flow at Casa Blanca Road and Maricopa Road. When completed, drivers will have additional lighting for improved visibility and longer turn lanes.

Specific improvements planned for Casa Blanca Road include:

  • Dual left turn lanes onto southbound SR 347
  • A new acceleration lane for traffic entering northbound SR 347
  • A right turn lane for those exiting SR 347 onto Casa Blanca Road
  • Improved signal timing technology
