What to expect during construction

Work will begin at the Arizona side of the I-40 Colorado River Bridge and continue approximately 2 miles to just west of the Needle Mountain Road traffic interchange (Exit 2).

Lane restrictions will be limited to overnight hours only and will not be in place during daytime hours or weekends. Business access will be maintained at all times during construction.

The restrictions include:

  • Intermittent overnight lane restrictions on east- and westbound I-40 from 6 p.m. to 9 a.m. from Sunday evenings through Friday mornings.
  • One lane will remain open in both directions through the work zone. Motorists should be prepared for delays of up to 15 minutes.
  • The speed limit will be reduced in the work zones.

ADOT reminds drivers to proceed through the work zone with caution, slow down and watch for construction personnel and equipment while the following restrictions are in place.
