US 95 Corridor Widening and Reconstruction

The Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT), is working to improve safety and traffic flow on US 95 between Avenue 9E (milepost 31.86) and Rifle Range Road (milepost  35.46).

Crews will reconstruct and widen US 95 from a two-lane, undivided highway to a five-lane facility, replacing the Gila Gravity Canal Bridge and the Wellton-Mohawk Canal Bridge. Construction will include two travel lanes in each direction and a center two-way left turn lane that will provide a high-level of service to meet the connectivity needs of surrounding urban, agricultural, military, and distant metropolitan areas.

Project Area

The project is located on US 95 within Yuma County.

What to expect:

To minimize impacts on traffic during the winter agricultural season and surrounding urban and military areas, ADOT has scheduled work to occur in two phases.

  • Phase 1 is scheduled to widen 3.6 miles of roadway between Avenue 9E and Fortuna Wash beginning summer 2021 with completion expected fall 2022.
  • Phase 2 of the project will include 2.96 miles of widening between Rifle Range Road (milepost 35) and the Wellton-Mohawk Canal Bridge (milepost 39). The Wellton-Mohawk Canal Bridge will be replaced. Construction is tentatively scheduled for late fall 2022.

Expect delays as lane restrictions on US 95 will be necessary. Work is scheduled to occur between 6:00am to 5:00pm Mondays through Fridays.
