Overview

The Arizona Department of Transportation, the Federal Highway Administration, and the U.S. Department of Defense widened the roadway on US 95 between Rifle Range Road (milepost 35) and the Wellton-Mohawk Canal bridge (milepost 39). Crews reconstructed and widened the existing two-lane roadway into a five-lane roadway, while also replacing the bridge over the Wellton-Mohawk Canal. Additional work included roadway excavation, drainage improvements, removing and replacing the pavement and applying new pavement markings.

What to expect:

To minimize impacts on traffic during the winter agricultural season and surrounding urban and military areas, ADOT scheduled work to occur in three phases. 

Phase 1 was completed in fall 2022. Crews reconstructed and widened 3.6 miles of roadway between Avenue 9E and Fortuna Wash. 

Phase 2, began November 2022 and was completed late January 2025. Crews reconstructed and widened 2.96 miles roadway between Rifle Range Road and the Wellton-Mohawk Canal Bridge.

Phase 3 is scheduled to begin summer 2025. Crews are scheduled to reconstruct and widen the roadway between Imperial Dam Road and Aberdeen Road. Visit the US 95, Imperial Dam Road to Aberdeen Road widening project webpage for more information.
