We came, we saw, we rubbled!

Asphalt millings, concrete, metal and steel are the most common types of construction waste; but the Broadway Curve project team has future plans for all of them.

The year is 1966 and the Broadway Curve won't open for two more years.

PHOENIX – The Interstate 10 Broadway Curve Improvement Project is updating its detour route information for this weekend’s I-10 closure between the Loop 202 (Santan/South Mountain Freeway) and US 60 (Superstition Freeway).

UPDATED: US 60 is closed in both directions between Rural Road and Loop 101 (Price Freeway) due to water on the roadway. 

PHOENIX –  The Arizona Department of Transportation advises motorists to expect delays and allow plenty of extra travel time when Interstate 10 is closed in both directions between the Loop 202 (Santan/South Mountain freeway) and US 60 (Superstition Freeway) this weekend. 

Crews with the I-10 Broadway Curve Improvement Project will remove the north face of the Guadalupe Road bridge in preparation for widening work, and Salt River Project crews will conduct utility relocation work during the closure.

PHOENIX – During this upcoming weekend’s full closure of Interstate 10 between State Route 51 and SR 143, Salt River Project (SRP) crews will safely move a utility pole fondly referred to as the “North Pole.” The massive 75-foot-tall pole on the north side of I-10 near 46th Street needs to shift 102 feet further north to make way for improvements on I-10 as part of the  I-10 Broadway Curve Improvement Project . 

Broadway Road in Tempe to close in both directions nightly (April 19-22) between 48th and 52nd streets 

PHOENIX – Motorists who travel on Broadway Road between 48th and 52nd Streets at night, should be prepared to take detours beginning Tuesday, April 19, through Friday, April 22. Construction crews with the Interstate 10 Broadway Curve Improvement Project will close Broadway Road in both directions for bridge work nightly from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m.

PHOENIX –The Arizona Department of Transportation advises motorists to expect delays and allow plenty of extra travel time while Interstate 10 is closed to east and westbound travel  between SR 51 and SR 143 the weekend of April 22-April 25 to accommodate work related to the I-10 Broadway Curve Improvement Project.

PHOENIX – Motorists who drive over the 55 mph speed limit while traveling through the Arizona Department of Transportation’s largest-ever urban freeway reconstruction project could end up getting a ticket as ADOT increases its efforts to encourage motorists to slow down in the project work zone. 

What takes 11 hours to empty, weighs just over 2,000 tons and can cover a football field half a foot deep? It's the 1,000 cubic yards of concrete that was poured over the weekend in conjunction with the Arizona Department of Transportation's Interstate 10 Broadway Curve Improvement Project.

The I-10 Broadway Curve project has kicked off and drivers will start noticing changes in the construction area.

PHOENIX – Months before construction begins on reconstruction of Interstate 10 through the Broadway Curve, the Arizona Department of Transportation is identifying native plants to preserve along an 11-mile section of the freeway.

We're thinking a lot about the Broadway Curve right now, which makes this photo particularly fitting.
