PHOENIX – The Arizona Department of Transportation Motor Vehicle Division (MVD) will be releasing brand new driver license and ID cards this March. The new design will include several new security features that help prevent counterfeit reproductions or fraudulent use. 

Attempted counterfeits of driver license and ID cards continue to be a concern for law enforcement, as well as personal information security. The advancement of security features in the card help prevent those counterfeit attempts from being successful.

PHOENIX–The Arizona Department of Transportation advises motorists to plan ahead if they are traveling in the area of Interstate 10 and Broadway Road this weekend.

Broadway Road will be closed in both directions between 48th and 55th Streets from 10 p.m. Friday, Feb 24, to 9 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 26 for ramp reconfiguration. At the same time, the following ramps will be closed:

PHOENIX – With extreme winter weather forecast for the high country, the Arizona Department of Transportation and Arizona Department of Public Safety have taken the rare step to preemptively close select highways to keep motorists safe. As the storm system moves across the state, closures of additional highways may become necessary.

PHOENIX–The Arizona Department of Transportation advises motorists to plan ahead and be ready to use detours as eastbound Interstate 10 is closed between US 60 and Loop 202 (Santan/South Mountain Freeway) from 10 p.m. Friday, Feb. 17, to 10 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 18. Crews with the Interstate 10 Broadway Curve Improvement Project are scheduled to continue work on bridges, overhead signs and barriers.

The following ramps will also be closed:

PHOENIX – A public meeting about potential future changes at the Loop 101/Interstate 10 interchange in the West Valley will be held on Thursday evening, Feb. 23.

The Arizona Department of Transportation and its project partners will hold the meeting to provide information about alternatives under consideration for new High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) ramp connections at the Loop 101/I-10 interchange.

PHOENIX – As Arizona’s high country prepares for snow this week, drivers should focus on safe driving – including slowing down, if they are traveling on highways where winter weather is creating potentially hazardous conditions.

That’s the safety message from the Arizona Department of Transportation as storms are expected to create snow packed and icy conditions on a number of highways. Drivers should avoid traveling in winter weather and consider delaying trips until after storms have passed and conditions have improved.

YARNELL – The Arizona Department of Transportation is hosting a community open house from 4 - 6 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 21, to provide Yarnell residents and other stakeholders an opportunity to learn more about a recently completed safety study on State Route 89.

PHOENIX – The eastbound US 60 will be closed Tuesday night (Feb. 7) between Higley and Power roads in Mesa while crews do pavement maintenance work, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.

Eastbound US 60 will be closed overnight between Higley and Power roads from 9 p.m. Tuesday to 5 a.m. Wednesday (Feb. 8). The eastbound US 60 on-ramps at Val Vista Drive and Greenfield Road also will be closed Tuesday night.

HOLBROOK – Overnight closures of Interstate 40 at Perkins Valley Road in Holbrook are scheduled Sunday through Wednesday nights (Feb. 5-8) for maintenance work on the overpass that travels over the highway.

The Arizona Department of Transportation will close eastbound I-40 at Perkins Valley Road (Exit 283) from 7 p.m. Sunday to 5 a.m. Monday (Feb. 6). Westbound I-40 is scheduled to be closed at Exit 283 from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday through Wednesday nights (Feb 6-8). I-40 traffic will detour along the off- and on-ramps at Perkins Valley Road.

PHOENIX – The Arizona Department of Transportation’s Incident Response Unit trucks have taken on a new look, but the mission remains the same. ADOT is introducing GEICO as the exclusive sponsor of its vital IRU program that increases safety for motorists and responders, alike, by getting traffic moving sooner after crashes, clearing debris from highways and assisting stranded motorists.

PHOENIX — Interstate 10 will be closed in each direction at different times this weekend, between Loop 202 and US 60 while Interstate 10 Broadway Curve Improvement Project crews remove bridge falsework and build the new Guadalupe Road bridge barrier.

Here’s what to expect:

Westbound I-10 will be closed between Loop 202 and US 60 from 10 p.m. Friday, Jan. 27, to 10 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 28. At the same time, the following ramps will be closed:

PHOENIX – The Arizona Department of Transportation Motor Vehicle Division (MVD) recently started providing customers the ability to Live Chat with an MVD expert directly on the azdot.gov website.  

PHOENIX – The Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) will host a public meeting as part of  an ongoing study of proposed improvements to the Grand Avenue intersection with 35th Avenue and Indian School Road (known as the Grand-35 Study). The meeting is scheduled on Tuesday evening (Jan. 31), at Alhambra High School in Phoenix.

PHOENIX – Recent storms are giving more reasons to pay close attention to a vehicle’s condition and history, especially in private sales. Cars damaged by floodwaters’ such as those resulting from rainstorms in California and other states can sometimes find their way to Arizona to be sold.

If a vehicle is flood-damaged, the title should say “salvage” or “flood damage.” But, scammers fraudulently remove flood history from vehicle titles.

Flood-damaged vehicles that have been “dressed up” are a common scam after major weather events like what we’ve seen recently.

PHOENIX – Proactive programs related to noise and other projects, including runway improvements, helped lift Cottonwood Airport to an award as the state’s Airport of the Year for 2022.

The Arizona Department of Transportation’s Aeronautics Group cited the Cottonwood Airport’s community efforts as a key reason for the honor.

PHOENIX – Last year, the Arizona Department of Transportation along with its maintenance contractors picked up 118,578 bags of trash along freeways in Maricopa County, which translates to approximately 811 tons. This continues an upward trend in the amount of litter accumulation along Valley freeways since 2017.

During the past five years, litter has steadily increased along state freeways in Maricopa County. In 2017, ADOT picked up 80,442 bags of litter compared to the nearly 119,000 bags last year. That’s a 47% increase.

KINGMAN – The Arizona Department of Transportation invites the public to join a virtual public meeting to learn more about the design of a new traffic interchange that will provide a free-flowing connection between Interstate 40 and US 93 in west Kingman.

The meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 25, which the public can join at https://bit.ly/wkingman. ADOT project members will present a video simulation of the new interchange design at the meeting and will then answer questions from the public.

PHOENIX – Southbound State Route 143 will be closed between Loop 202 (Red Mountain Freeway) and Interstate 10 from 10 p.m. Friday. January 20, to 4 a.m. Monday, January 23. Crews with the I-10 Broadway Curve Improvement Project are completing paving and ramp reconfiguration to align with the new southbound 48th Street bridge over I-10. At the same time, the following ramps will be closed:

FLORENCE - A new bridge will be moved into its permanent home starting this Friday evening in Florence, where crews will work around the clock the following two weekends to slide sections of a new structure in place above the Gila River.

This innovative bridge slide process will require lane restrictions on State Route 79 that are expected to cause delays both weekends. Motorists should plan ahead for the work and consider alternate routes.
