PHOENIX – The Arizona Department of Transportation Motor Vehicle Division (MVD) will be releasing brand new driver license and ID cards this March. The new design will include several new security features that help prevent counterfeit reproductions or fraudulent use.
Attempted counterfeits of driver license and ID cards continue to be a concern for law enforcement, as well as personal information security. The advancement of security features in the card help prevent those counterfeit attempts from being successful.

Crews with the Interstate 10 Broadway Curve Improvement Project are scheduled to continue work on bridges, overhead signs and barriers.

PHOENIX – The eastbound US 60 will be closed Tuesday night (Feb. 7) between Higley and Power roads in Mesa while crews do pavement maintenance work, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.
Eastbound US 60 will be closed overnight between Higley and Power roads from 9 p.m. Tuesday to 5 a.m. Wednesday (Feb. 8). The eastbound US 60 on-ramps at Val Vista Drive and Greenfield Road also will be closed Tuesday night.

HOLBROOK – Overnight closures of Interstate 40 at Perkins Valley Road in Holbrook are scheduled Sunday through Wednesday nights (Feb. 5-8) for maintenance work on the overpass that travels over the highway.
The Arizona Department of Transportation will close eastbound I-40 at Perkins Valley Road (Exit 283) from 7 p.m. Sunday to 5 a.m. Monday (Feb. 6). Westbound I-40 is scheduled to be closed at Exit 283 from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday through Wednesday nights (Feb 6-8). I-40 traffic will detour along the off- and on-ramps at Perkins Valley Road.

PHOENIX – Recent storms are giving more reasons to pay close attention to a vehicle’s condition and history, especially in private sales. Cars damaged by floodwaters’ such as those resulting from rainstorms in California and other states can sometimes find their way to Arizona to be sold.
If a vehicle is flood-damaged, the title should say “salvage” or “flood damage.” But, scammers fraudulently remove flood history from vehicle titles.
Flood-damaged vehicles that have been “dressed up” are a common scam after major weather events like what we’ve seen recently.

PHOENIX – Last year, the Arizona Department of Transportation along with its maintenance contractors picked up 118,578 bags of trash along freeways in Maricopa County, which translates to approximately 811 tons. This continues an upward trend in the amount of litter accumulation along Valley freeways since 2017.
During the past five years, litter has steadily increased along state freeways in Maricopa County. In 2017, ADOT picked up 80,442 bags of litter compared to the nearly 119,000 bags last year. That’s a 47% increase.

FLORENCE - A new bridge will be moved into its permanent home starting this Friday evening in Florence, where crews will work around the clock the following two weekends to slide sections of a new structure in place above the Gila River.
This innovative bridge slide process will require lane restrictions on State Route 79 that are expected to cause delays both weekends. Motorists should plan ahead for the work and consider alternate routes.
