PHOENIX – The U.S. Department of Homeland Security has again extended the deadline for domestic airline travelers to have a federally-compliant form of ID. The new date is May 7, 2025. The Arizona Department of Transportation Motor Vehicle Division follows TSA guidelines, and still encourages people to consider getting the Arizona Travel ID to avoid delays or other travel issues at TSA checkpoints once this takes effect.

State Route 67 leading to the North Rim of Grand Canyon National Park has closed for the winter effective today, Thursday, Dec. 1.
The highway will be blocked to traffic about a half mile from its junction with US 89A at Jacob Lake. With park facilities closed for the winter, the Arizona Department of Transportation doesn’t clear snow from the highway, which leads 43 miles south from US 89A.
The North Rim averages more than 9 feet of snow annually, according to the National Weather Service.

Traveler Alert! Overnight I-17 closures start Nov. 30 and Dec. 1 between Anthem Way and Sunset Point
PHOENIX – Drivers who travel I-17 at night will need to plan ahead to avoid major delays as the highway is closed regularly during the weeknight overnight hours for controlled rock blasting over the next several months. The blasting is necessary work as part of the I-17 Improvement Project from Anthem Way to Sunset Point.
PHOENIX – The Arizona Department of Transportation advises motorists to plan ahead and be prepared to merge safely while a section of southbound State Route 143 is narrowed to one lane between University Drive and Interstate 10. The restriction will be in place continuously from 8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 28, to 11:59 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 1.

PHOENIX — The Arizona Department of Transportation is seeking public input for its Disadvantaged Business Enterprise program as it updates its overall goals for this effort.
ADOT and agencies receiving funds through ADOT award contracts each month for transportation projects throughout the state. As a requirement of receiving U.S. Department of Transportation funds, ADOT must operate the Federal Disadvantaged Business Enterprise Program.
The Arizona Department of Transportation will host a public open house Wednesday, Nov. 16 in Phoenix to share the details of its plan to develop a network of electric vehicle fast charging stations along interstate highways in Arizona.
The meeting is one of several public meetings throughout the state to share details of the initial plan implementation and seek public input on which additional highways throughout the state should be added to the ADOT electric vehicle charging station network.

PHOENIX – It’s that time of year where the Arizona Department of Transportation is closing five state highways for the winter.
In the White Mountains area, State Route 473 from SR 260 on the White Mountain Apache Reservation to Hawley Lake is scheduled to close on Friday, Nov. 18. State Route 261 from State Route 260 near Eagar to Big Lake and State Route 273 from SR 260 to Sunrise Park and Big Lake are scheduled to close Friday, Dec. 30.
These dates are subject to change if the White Mountains area is impacted by snowfall.
COTTONWOOD, AZ – Drivers in the Cottonwood area should prepare for a prolonged closure of Pima Street near Old Town Cottonwood while the Arizona Department of Transportation administers a local project to rehabilitate the Blowout Wash Bridge.
Pima Street will be closed to all traffic between Second and Third streets during construction. A detour will be in place east of the Old Town Cottonwood business district. The detour will allow residents living on Third, Fourth and Fifth streets to travel south to Main Street in order to access Pima Street west of the bridge closure.
PHOENIX – Now that construction is officially underway for the I-17 Improvement Project from Anthem Way to Sunset Point, there is some important work taking place to protect the natural landscape that is part of this scenic corridor.
Crews have started removing native vegetation, including saguaros, palo verde trees and ocotillos, along the 23-mile project corridor so it can be cared for and closely monitored during construction, then eventually replanted alongside an improved wider highway.
TUCSON – The Arizona Department of Transportation has begun a project to bring broadband internet access to more of southern Arizona by laying 63 miles of fiber-optic conduit along I-19 from Tucson to Nogales.
The $15 million project began in September and involves crews laying fiber-optic cable along ADOT’s right-of-way for I-19. During the project, drivers can expect occasional lane restrictions, with most of the work only requiring shoulder closures.
No restrictions will take place on weekends and holidays. The project is expected to be completed in early 2023.

Northbound SR 143 will be closed between Interstate 10 and University Drive from 10 p.m. Friday, Nov. 4, to 4 a.m. Monday, Nov. 7, while crews set up work zones as part of the I-10 Broadway Curve Improvement Project. During this closure, the following ramps and local streets will be closed:
Two public meetings in northern Arizona have been scheduled by the Arizona Department of Transportation to share the details of its plan to develop a network of electric vehicle fast charging stations along interstate highways in Arizona.
The first meeting is in Kingman and will be held on Tuesday, November 1st from 5-7 p.m. at the Mohave County Administration Building, 700 W Beale Street.
In Flagstaff, the meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, November 2nd from 5-7 p.m. at the Flagstaff Aquaplex, 1702 N Fourth Street.

Westbound US 60 to eastbound Interstate 10 ramp closed tonight (Tuesday Oct. 25 - Wednesday Oct. 26)
PHOENIX- The Arizona Department of Transportation advises motorists to plan ahead while the westbound US 60 to eastbound I-10 ramp is closed from 7 p.m. tonight to 4 a.m., Wednesday, Oct. 26. Crews with the Interstate 10 Broadway Curve Improvement Project will repair crash barriers during this closure.
Detour: Use the westbound US 60 ramp to westbound I-10 to access the eastbound I-10 on-ramp at Broadway Road.
