While looking through our photo archives, we found what appeared to be photos of a cactus relocation project on State Route 87 (Beeline Highway) during the summer of 1971. That made us curious to learn more about the practice.

Lane splits provide crews the room they need to continue working while also keeping travel lanes open. Lane restrictions on this project take place on weekends and overnight on weeknights, so they impact fewer drivers on the road.

This project is complete

The Arizona Department of Transportation completed a project to replace light fixtures on east- and westbound I-10 from Ruthrauff Road to north- and southbound I-19 at Valencia Road in Tucson. The project improved visibility and roadway safety.

SR 86 Pavement Rehabilitation Project Map
