What inspires you to get involved in cleaning up highway trash? 

That is a question recently answered by Altar Valley Conservation Alliance representative and Adopt a Highway volunteer Julia Guglielmo.

Project Cost: $9.5 million

The Arizona Department of Transportation has initiated a pavement rehabilitation project along US 60 between Show Low and Springerville. The 16-mile-long project is between State Route 61 and Wildcat Creek (mileposts 353-369).

The project is currently shut down for the winter and will resume summer of 2026.

Spanning more than 350 miles from its westernmost point in San Diego to its eastern terminus at the Interstate 10 junction in Casa Grande, Interstate 8 is a primary route for travel in the Southwest.

The State Route (SR) 264 corridor in northeast Arizona serves as a major highway for the Hopi Tribe and Navajo Nation, which includes several population centers such as Moenkopi, Third Mesa, Kykotsmovi, Second Mesa, First Mesa, Keams Canyon, and Jeddito.

Progress along the Interstate 40/US 93 interchange project in Kingman sometimes can be apparent at the end of each day’s work, but in some cases, it’s quite visible even at night.
